The village of Malgrate Villafranca di Lunigiana (MS) The village of Malgrate was built in two distinct periods. In the first, at the beginning of the fourteenth century, the castle was built with the 25 meter high tower. In the second, in the sixteenth century, the houses of the village built on the fourteenth-century walls of the fortress were built. In the following centuries, Malgrate changed its appearance as an exemplary fortified village, to assume that of an elegant manor house, while retaining the imprint of military architecture.
