Gelati Monastery is one of the cultural treasures of the Caucasus republic of Georgia. Seen in this drone video by Maikl_rus, it's located on a hill overlooking the city of Kutaisi (Georgia's third-largest city and erstwhile capital) in the Imereti region in the west-central part of the country. Founded in the early 12th century, the architecture of Gelati reflects a strong Byzantine influence; this is reflective of the strong ties that existed between the region and the Byzantine capital of Constantinople (now Istanbul).
