Foz do Douro is situated just west of Porto's historic city center, near the mouth of the Douro River. The district is known as one of the most upscale in Porto, Portugal's second-largest city and the largest in its Norte region. Among other attractions, Foz do Douro is home to a chapel commissioned by Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal.
