First ever drone video of Fort Munro (Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan) 2020
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Pakistan's Fort Munro is what's known as a hill station - a town built at some elevation above a plain or valley in former Southern Asian colonial territories which allowed Europeans to escape the heat. In the post-colonial era, Fort Munro (also known as Tuman Leghari), like many hill stations, came to serve a similar role for the native population. Located about 85 km (around 50 mi.) from the city of Dera Ghazi Khan in the Punjab Province, you can check out Fort Munro from above in this excellent drone video by vasiq eqbal.

- Report
Fort Munro (Urdu: فورٹ منرو), (Balochi: تمن لیغاری or فورٹ منرو) also known as Tuman Leghari, is a hill station, located at a height of 6,470 feet (1,970 m) above sea level in Dera Ghazi Khan. It attracts many people for short stays during the hot summer. It is around 85 kilometres from Dera Ghazi Khan city, Punjab, Pakistan and about 185 kilometres from Multan in Sulaiman Mountain range. The people of Fort Munro are nomads, especially of the Leghari tribe. Fort Munro lies on the Quetta Road at 85 km from Dera Ghazi Khan (popularly known as D.G Khan) city. It is the only hill station in southern Punjab in the Sulaiman Mountain range. Its altitude is 1800 meters and attracts many people for short stays during the summer. Fort Munro can be reached either from Loralai Balochistan or from Multan (Punjab). From Punjab, the mountain range starts near Rakhni, which is a border-post between Balochistan and Punjab. The town was founded by Robert Groves Sandeman in the later part of the 19th century and named Fort Munro after Colonel A. A. Munro who was commissioner of the Derajat Division. Graves of some British era army officers are still there (they can be seen at the end of the video). While filming this video, wind gusts were so strong at one point that they started to shake the drone so badly and ultimately we have to abort filming the exposed site of this hill station and had to take the cover of surrounding mountains.
