The two mountains form part of the Valley of Mexico, which is the home of Mexico City, The two mountains are closely tied to the history of the Aztec tribe which once occupied most of Central Mexico. The names of the two peaks refer to an Aztec warrior and a princess, although there are several different version of the story that transpired between them.
