San Galgano Abbey, Toscana - Italy | Beautiful Italian remains, magical medieval church seen through a FPV drone San Galgano is a cistercian abbey dating back to the 13th century. The building lost its roof due to the collapse of the bell tower (that was struck by a thunderbolt) in 1786. Soon after the church was deconsecrated and used for many years as a stable (only in 1926 the Italian State decided to look after this heritage). The church is named after Saint Galgano, a dissolute knight who converted to a devout hermit life. Saint Galgano is believed to be the one who thrust the sword into the stone that can be found in the near Rotonda di Montesiepi (Arthurian style). It is said that he did so to transform his sword into a cross, marking the start of his hermit life. We loved to fly above those remains and it was such a special experience to see it through the day, from morning to night… Hope you enjoy our wandering around it!
