Wales, UK from the Sky

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor and pilot foulkesphotography brings us this excellent drone video from the Snowdonia region of Wales in the United Kingdom.  The video features footage of Llyn Ogwen, a lake which runs between the Carneddau and Glyderau mountain ranges; Llyn Gwynant, a lake on the River Glaslyn; the valley known as Nant Gwynant; the village of Rhyd Ddu; the lake Llyn Dywarchen; Llyn Nantlle, a lake in the Nantlle Valley; and more.  The video was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.  

Content creator Promotion Films created this marvelous captioned drone video tour of Wales, the culturally distinct region of western Great Britain.  Here are the locations featured in the video: Ffestiniogg, Gwynedd; Abereiddy Beach, Pembrokeshire; Harlech Castle, Gwynedd; Porteirrionn, Gwynedd; Aberystwyth, Ceredigion; Saint Davids, Pembrokeshire; Abermawr Beach, Pembrokeshire; Cardiff, South Glamorgan.  It also includes footage of Bristol and Southampton in Southwest England.  

The Elan Valley lies in the Powys region of Wales, which runs along the border with England to the east.  It is an area of well recognized natural beauty, and is sometimes referred to as the "Welsh Lake District" by comparison to the Lake District of northern England.  Contributor and pilot Nathan Jermy used a drone to capture the spectacular beauty of this area, which is home to numerous lakes and reservoirs.  Much of the valley is recognized and protected under United Kingdom conservation law.

Caernarfon Castle is one of the most well-known historical landmarks in the United Kingdom.  Seen in this drone video by scdronemedia, the medieval stone fortress is located in its namesake town in County Gwynedd in northwestern Wales.  It was constructed in the late 13th century on the orders of English King Edward I, who was seeking to impose permanent control of Wales by its eastern neighbor.  The fortification played an important role in a number of rebellions against English rule from the late 13th to the early 15th centuries.

Here's a fantastic aerial tour of the storied region of North Wales, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Csaba Jonas.  Shot over two years, the video features dozens of spots in North Wales, home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK.  Not precisely defined, the region roughly corresponds to the Kingdom of Gwynedd, a medieval state which emerged following the end of Roman occupation in the fifth century AD.   It's home to Snowdonia National Park as well as two of the three UNESCO World Heritage sites in Wales.

The South Stack Lighthouse is built on the summit of a small island off the north-west coast of Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales. It was constructed in 1809 to warn ships of the dangerous rocks below.  The lighthouse is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs. This video is part of Joshua Paul Gardner's series of drone videos on the iconic landmark, one of the most well known lighthouses in the world and protected under UK conservation statutes.

Conwy Castle is one of the most famous fortresses in Wales.  It's situated in a town of the same name, on the north coast in the North Wales region. The great landmark was built by King Edward I of England during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289. The castle was constructed as part of a wider project to create the walled town of Conwy.  Contributor Joshua Paul Gardner used a DJI Mavic Pro drone and a GoPro ground camera to create this video showing this important medieval landmark from a bird's eye view.

Carreg Cannen is a famous Welsh castle near the town of Trap in the southwestern part of Wales.  Surrounded by massive limestone rock formations, the 12th century castle, which has not been functional since the 15th century, has a daunting appearance.  Contributor Nethan Jermy shot this impressive aerial video of the great ruins using a DJI Phantom drone.  The castle, located in Brecon Beacons National Park, was named by Touropia as one of the top 10 Welsh castles.  It's in Carmarthenshire, one of the counties of southwestern Wales.

The seaside town of Tenby is one of the historical and cultural treasures of Wales.  Seen in this excellent drone video by former DVOW Finalist Nathan Jermy, Tenby is located in Pembrokshire, the westernmost of the Welsh counties.   Its city walls date to the Norman period, and during the later Middle Ages the city came to occupy an important strategic position with respect to England's conquest and control of Wales.   Decimated during the English Civil War, Tenby later became one of Britain's first seaside getaway destinations.  

Snowdonia is a UK national park in the northwest corner of Wales.  The first of the three national parks to be estabished in Wales, it is one of the most well known destinations in the region and indeed in all of the United Kingdom.  The area contains Mt. Snowden, the highest mountain peak in Wales which reaches an altitude of 1.1k meters (3.6k ft) above sea level. Using a DJI Phantom 4 drone, contributor Joshua Paul Gardner has created a series of drone videos based on this area, of which this is the second installment.

Angelsey is a large (by Welsh standards) island off the coast of northern Wales.  It has an area of just over 700 square km (around 275 square mi.) and a population of about 70,000.  It is connected to the mainland of Wales via two suspension bridges.  Contributor Follow the Eye used a DJI Phantom 4 Professional drone to create an aerial video of a derelict brickworks in a small secluded cove on Anglesey, an island which is closely associated with the Druids (a sort of Celtic religious order) in Welsh history.

Top content creator Joshua Paul Gardner used a drone to create this video of one of the most well known mountain peaks in the United Kingdom.  Tryfan Summit is a mountain peak in the Snowdonia region of northwestern Wales.  With a peak elevation of about 920 meters (just over 3k ft.), it isn't the tallest mountain in the UK (or even in Wales), but it does have one of the most distinctive peaks.  It forms the backdrop for the 2017 movie Legend of the Sword about King Arthur, whose final resting place is thought to possibly be in Snowdonia.  

Take an aerial tour of the South Wales region of the UK in this excellent drone video by SouthCoastDronesUK.  The video opens with a pull-out view of the Prince of Wales Bridge, connects Wales to England over the Severn River.  The next stop is Caldicot Castle, a historic building in Monmouthshire. At the 1:06 mark, you'll see the town of Rhondda, a former coal-mining town in Glamorgan.  Other highlights include an old mining colliery (1:18), Caerphilly Castle (1:30), Castel Coch (1:58), Aberfan (2:25), and more.  

While it's common to associate fortresses from the medieval period or earlier, they continued to play a role in warfare until well into the 20th century.  Case in point is the fortress which was built on St. Catherine's Island in Wales, near Tenby.  In this video, Vivify Multimedia gives us a bird's eye view of this fortification, which was conceived in the 1850's due to concerns about the possibility of a French invasion led by Napoleon III.  However, the danger had passed prior to its completion in 1886.

Here's an amazing drone's eye view of Criccieth, one of the most well known castles in Wales.  It was built in the 13th century by a Welsh king and then became an English fortress after the English-Welsh wars which began later that century.  It's set beautifully on a peninsula of an inlet of Cardigan Bay in North Wales.  Contributor and drone pilot AVEA - Alta Vista Epic Aerials took some amazing aerial footage around the castle, which was recently named by Touropia as one of the top 10 castles of Wales.

Contributor AVEA - Alta Vistic Epic Aerial created this marvelous drone video of a famous fortress in northern Wales.  Harlech Castle is situated within Snowdonia National Park in Gwynned County.  The great landmark was built by King Edward I during his conquest of Wales in the late 13th century.  During the War of the Roses in the 15th century, Harlech was the site of a famous siege by Yorkist forces which ended in a Lancastrian surrender in 1468.  It's known as the longest siege in British history.

Conwy County in northern Wales may be the most beautiful in the land.  While it's perhaps best known for the magnificent Conwy Castle, a sometimes overlooked treasure is the area around the seaside town of Llandudno, which sits on the end of the Creuddyn Peninsula on the Irish Sea.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot Photographyman, you'll get an amazing bird's eye view of this gorgeous stretch of Welsh coastline, which was listed as one of the top 12 attractions in Wales by Planetware.

Glamorgan is the southernmost of the 13 historical counties of Wales.  Originally more of a fringe county, it was one of the most important areas of Wales during the Industrial Revolution due to its iron smelters and its seaports (principally Cardiff), but above all to the opening of the South Wales Coalfields (the largest in Britain) which covers the northern part of the county.    In this 4K drone video by contributor Wilman, you'll get a good bird's eye view of Gilmorgan's extensive coastline along the Bristol Channel. 

Check out this gorgeous drone video of a beautiful beach near the western tip of Wales.  Marloes Sands is located near a town of the same name in Pembrokeshire, the county which occupies the westernmost portion of this region of the UK.  It's on the southern shore of St. Brides Bay, which forms a nearly perfectly shaped half-moon opening to the Irish Sea.  While the Marloes Sands is not easily accessible (it can only be reached on foot), it is considered one of the finest beaches in the United Kingdom.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Marian Peciar brings us this fantastic drone video from the Brecon Beacon Mountains in the UK region of Wales.  The main part of the range consists of six peaks which together form a long ridge across Southern Wales.  The mountains are part of the The Brecon Beacons National Park, which includes three other ranges in South Wales.  The Brecon Beacons reach altitudes of up to about 2.6k feet above sea level or around 800 meters.  They take their name from the fires once used to signal invasions.  

Solva is a town on the northern side of St. Brides Bay, a body of water which resembles a backwards "C" off of the Irish Sea in Wales.  It's in Pembrokeshire, one of the 13 counties which make up the Wales region of the United Kingdom.  Solva's harbor, while small, forms one of the best natural ports in western Wales.  The harbor sits at the mouth of the Solva River, a small waterway which regularly floods the area.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot Momofoto, you'll get a beautiful bird's eye view of Solva.  

Top contributor Nathan Jermy created this beautiful drone video of Pembrokeshire in the United Kingdom.  Pembrokeshire is the westernmost of the counties which make up the wesern UK region of Wales.  About a third of the county, and much of its coastline along the Irish Sea, is covered by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.  The video features footage of the Stockholm Lighthouse on a tiny island, the 19th century Stack Rock Fort on an even smaller island, Carew Castle, the Blue Lagoon of Abereiddy, and more.

Check out these stunning aerial views of northern Wales, compliments of contributor Kasuku Aerial Productions.  The video features footage from Anglesey, the largest island of Wales, which sits off the northern coast in the Irish Sea.  It also will give you some bird's eye views of the Snowdonia mountain range which covers much of the northwestern part of mainland Wales.  The range contains the highest peak in Wales (Mt. Snowdon), which is also the highest peak in the UK outside of Scotland. 

Eye in the Sky Cinematography used a DJI Phantom 4 to create this beautiful aerial view of Aber Falls, a well-known waterfall in the Wales region of the UK.  The falls are located near the village of Abergwyngregyn in Gwynedd, the northwesternmost county of mainland Wales.  The falls have a total drop of about 37 meters (around 120 feet).  The area is part of the foothills of Snowdonia, a mountain range which covers much of northwestern Wales.  Visitors to the falls can also see a nearby settlement which dates to the Bronze Age.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor RIchard Beresford Harris brings us this excellent drone video from Snowdonia National Park in the Wales region of the United Kingdom.  The park, which is the third National Park in the UK, was established in the 1950's.  It's located in a mountainous area in the northwestern corner of Wales.  Considered one of the country's greatest national treasures, its popularity has been further enhanced by appearances in numerous feature movies and TV programs.  

Talented content creator Joshua Paul Gardner brings us this fantastic drone video shot at sunrise on Mt. Snowdon in Wales.  Part of Snowdonia National Park in the northwestern part of this UK region, Snowdon has a peak elevation of 3.56k ft. above sea level or around 1.1k meters.  That makes it the highest mountain in Wales, and the highest in the United Kingdom outside of Scotland.  It is the most-visited mountain in the United Kingdom and the third-biggest attraction of all types in the Wales region.   

Check out this aerial of a beautiful spot in northwestern Wales, compliments of alexukexplorer.  It's the area around the village of Tanygrisiau, which lies within the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog in County Gwynedd.  The village was once a mining town famous for its slate; however, the mines closed in the 1970's.  The villages lies along the southern slopes of the Moelwynion Mountains.  The entire area is part of Snowdonia National Park, one of three national parks in Wales, which covers much of the northwestern corner of the region.

Contributor Alexukexplorer created this beautiful aerial video of a well-known beach area in Wales.  It's called Dunraven Bay, and it lies near the southernmost extent of the region, close to the town of Southerndown.  The westward-facing beach is part of the Southerndown Coast Site of Special Interest as well as of the larger Glamorgan Heritage Coast protected area.  The beach has been used as a filming location for a number of TV shows, including multiple episodes of the hit BBC series Dr. Who.   

Abereiddy is a small town on the coast of Pembrokeshire, the westernmost of the counties of the Wales region of the United Kingdom.  Its main landmark is the Blue Lagoon, a 25m deep (just over 80 ft.) old slate quarry which has filled in with seawater.  The lagoon was the filming location for a music video by Sarah McLachlan in 2000, and beginning in 2012 it's hosted three Red Bull Diving Championships. Check out this beautiful Welsh landmark from above in this drone video by content creator and pilot momofoto.  

Here's a beautiful drone video from a little-known corner of Wales, compliments of content creator and pilot tudnofilms.  It was filmed in the area around Penmon, on the Isle of Anglesey (the largest island of Wales).  The town lies at the tip of an arrow-shaped landform which juts off the southeastern corner of the island.  The video also features footage of the tiny Puffin Island and the iconic Trwyn Du Lighthouse, which lies on a tiny islet just off the tip of the "mainland".  Completed in 1838, it's one of the most famous in Wales.

AirVuz contributor Rob Bates Photography used a DJI Mavic 3 drone to create this stunning aerial tour of the North Wales region of the UK.  At the :47 mark, you'll see the Penmon Lighthouse (Trwyn Du Lighthouse) on the eastern side of the Isle of Anglesey.  Just after 1:30, you'll see the Porth Wen Brickworks, a historic brickmaking complex on the northern side of Anglesey.  The video concludes with some magnificent shots from Snowdonia National Park, which covers much of the northwestern corner of mainland Wales. 

The Welsh island of Anglesey is forever associated with copper mining because of the ore extracted from Parys Mountain, which you'll see in this fascinating drone video by Simon Whittaker.  Parys had been a source of the red metal as long as 4,000 years ago but was essentially dormant for several millennia before being "rediscovered" in the late 1700s.  With the more advanced extraction and refining techniques that were available by then, Parys became (for a time) the world's largest copper mine.  

Lake Vyrnwy is one of the main attractions of the region known as Mid-Wales, in the western United Kingdom.  It's located in Pows, one of the region's 22 official counties.  It's an artificial lake created by a dam completed in 1888 and whose purpose was to supply drinking water to the city of Liverpool.  It's part of the Severn River tributary system.  Joshua Paul Gardner created this beautiful drone video of the site, which  includes a village called Llanwddyn which was partially submerged by the project.  

Dinas Brân is one of the most famous fortifications in the northern part of Wales, United Kingdom.  It sits over the town of Llangollen in Denbighshire, believed to be the longest-settled part of the region.  Built on the site of an Iron Age hilltop fort, the current structure dates to the 13th century.  The castle was essentially abandoned and left in a semi-ruined state following the conquest of Wales by England later that century.   The castle features prominently in numerous stories of Welsh mythology.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot tudnofilms brings us this marvelous drone video of the Talacre Lighthouse in Wales.  Also known as the Point Ayr Lighthouse, it was built in 1776 on the Dee River estuary, in the very northeast corner of this culturally distinctive region of the United Kingdom.  It's only a few short miles from the port city of Liverpool in Northern England, which lies to its north and west.  The lighthouse provides navigation for ships plying what were once some of the world's busiest coastal routes.

Top contributor and pilot Nathan Jermy used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this fantastic aerial view of the Elan Valley in the western UK region of Wales.  The valley is situated near the market town of Rhayader in Pows, the main county of eastern Wales.  The valley includes numerous dams and reservoir lakes, and it's home to some of the most popular hiking spots in Wales.  The Elan Valley is sometimes called the Welsh Lake District, in reference to the English Lake District in Cumberland, northern England.

AirVuz contributor SimonRogersuk used a DJI 2S to create this marvelous aerial video of the Llŷn Peninsula in the UK's Wales region.  The peninsula is a roughly 30 mi. long (around 60 km) landform which juts westwards into the Irish Sea, connecting to the mainland just south of the Isle of Anglesey.  The peninsula forms the western part of the historic county of Caernarfonshire, and a smaller portion of the current county of Gwynedd.  Much of the peninsula is protected under UK conservation laws as a Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  

Brand-new contributor gphotography brings us this excellent drone video of a remote part of the UK region of Wales.  It's called the Gower Peninsula, and it projects southwards from the "mainland" into the Bristol Channel.  The peninsula forms the western part of the historical county of Glamorgan, which represents the heart of southern Wales.  Covering a territory of about 70 square mi. (around 180 square km.), much of the peninsula is part of the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and thus protected under UK conservation laws.

AirVuz contributor and pilot scdronemedia brings us this excellent drone video of a well-known ancient burial site in the Wales region of the UK.  Bryn Celli Ddu is located on the island of Anglesey, off the northwestern coast of Wales.  Translating roughly to "the mound in the dark grove", the site consists of a burial chamber with a pillar inside of it.  Excavated in the late 1920's, the original site is believed to date to around 4000 BC, at the end of the Mesolithic period; most of the complex dates to 1000-2000 years later.  

Take a first person view (FPV) drone tour of an important historical landmark in Wales, compliments of talented AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot bradfpv.  The subject is Herbert's Quarry, which is a limestone quarry near the village of Llangadog in Carmarthenshire, a historic county in the southwestern part of this culturally distinctive region of the United Kingdom.  The video, which includes "setup" shots from a DJI Air 2S drone, was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in September of 2022.  

Check out this drone video of a famous waterfall in the UK region of Wales, compliments of Joshua Paul Gardner.  Pistyll Rhaeadr is located near the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in Powys, the principal county of east-central Wales.  The three-stage falls is formed by the river Afon Disgynfa, which is known as the River Rhaeadr downstream of the waterfall.  Pistyll Thaeade was one of the Seven Wonders of Wales referred to in an anonymous (but famous) rhyme written in the 18th or 19th century.

Check out this beautiful drone video of a well-known mountain pass in the UK region of Wales, compliments of AirVuz contributor Dr0new Werks.  It's called the Horseshoe Pass, and its located in Denbighshire, one of the counties of northeastern Wales.  The pass runs between the small mountains known as Moel y Gamelin and Cyrn-y-Brain.  Its name derives from the shape of the A542 road which runs though the pass.  Popular with bikers and motorists, the route actually dates to the early part of the 19th century.   

Here's a nice aerial view of a famous mountain pass in the UK region of Wales, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot scdronemedia.  It's called Llanberis Pass, and it carries the A4086 road between the  Glyderau and the Snowdon mountain massifs in Snowdonia, the mountainous region of northwestern Wales.  Its namesake town is situated at the western end of the pass, which runs southeast and then northeast to end at the town of Capel Cung. It lies within Gwynedd, the main county of the Snowdonia region.  

Contributor and pilot Fotosfromsky created used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this beautifully edited video from the fabled western UK region of Wales.  Among the highlights is some great footage of the dam on Lake Vyrnwy, which begins at about the :30 mark.  Located in the county of Pows in the Mid-Wales region, the dam was built in the late 1800's to supply fresh water to the city of Liverpool. Another is a shot beginning around :50 of the  Castell Dinas Brân castle ruins in northeastern Wales.  

Gwydr Forest is one of the natural attractions in Snowdonia National Park, the third national park established in the UK, which covers most of the northwestern corner of the Wales region.  Covering an area of about 72 square km (around 28 square mi.), the forest is known for its many lakes.  In this drone video, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of the more prominent of these lakes - Llyn Parc.  The long, narrow lake lies toward the eastern end of the park's boundaries, just west of the River Conwy.

Dolwyddelan Castle is an important historical landmark in northern Wales.  Seen in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot scdronemedia, it's located near its namesake town in Conwy County Borough.   It's believed that the castle was built in the 13th century and was a stronghold of Llywelyn the Great, king of the Gwynedd state which emerged in Wales following the withdrawal of the Romans.  Dolwyddelan Castle was captured by English forces led by Kind Edward I, one of the last conquests during his subjugation of Wales.  

The UK region of Wales was once the largest source of slate, a type of stone used for roofing, countertops, and other building applications.  In this drone video by AirVuz contributor Jabomedia, you'll see the Dinorwic Quarry, once the world's second-largest slate quarry. It's located in Gwynedd, one of the northwestern counties of Wales.  Intensive slate quarrying began here in the late 1700's, and at its peak Dinorwic employed over 3,000 men.  It was closed in 1969 and is now the home of the National Slate Museum.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Jason Sturgess used a drone to create a memorable video record of a hiking trip in the Brecon Beacons Mountains in the Wales region of the UK.  The hike took him to the top of Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in the range, which has a peak altitude of about 2.9k ft. above sea level or around 900 m.  It's part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, one of three national parks in Wales, which covers about 500 square mi. (around 1.3k square km) in the southeastern part of the region.  

Check out this beautiful drone video of a storied hilly region in the western UK region of Wales, compliments of contributor ChrisBaish.  It was filmed in the western part of the Brecon Beacons National Park in south-central Wales.  The hills here are foothills of the Brecon Beacons Mountains, who six main peaks include Pen y Fan - at 886 meters above sea level (2.9k ft.), it's the highest peak on the island of Great Britain outside of Snowdonia.  The park was founded in 1957, the third of Wales' National Parks to be established.

Pembrokeshire is the westernmost county of Wales. With long coastlines along St. George's Channel to the north and the Bristol Channel to the south, Pembrokeshire is defined largely in relationship to the sea. In this excellent drone video by Aerial.Vantage.UK, you'll get a 90 second aerial tour of some spots around Pembrokeshire.  The video includes footage of a ruined fortress hilltop coastal fortress, a giant wind turbine farm, the stunning rocky Pembrokeshire coastline the historic port town of Tenby, and more.

North Wales is an semi-official region of the Kingdom of Wales, which in turn is part of the United Kingdom.  The North Wales region includes Snowdonia National Park, the Island of Angelsey, and the magnificent walled town of Conwy.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot Cedric Quillet, you'll get a mini aerial tour of this storied region.  Among the highlights are some great shots from within the Snowdonia National Park as well as some great views of Aber Waterfalls, located just outside of the park. 

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Nathan Jermy took a bit of a gamble with his drone to create this epic dronie flying out of a church in Wales, the region which covers a western portion of the island of Great Britain.  When you watch the video, you will see why this was a tough shot.  What you can't see made it even tougher - 25 mph winds, which challenge the ability of any drone to maintain the desired course with so little room for error.  You say, “do it for the ‘gram,” we say “do it for the dronie.”

Contributor and drone pilot Joshua Paul Gardner created this beautiful promotional video for a getaway in the middle of Wales.  Its accommodations are an updated form of a "yurt" which is a collapsible tent derived from the nomadic tribes of Central Asia.  Much of the video is aerial footage of some of the surrounding attractions in Powsys (one of the counties of Mid-Wales) such as Lake Vyrnwy and the famous waterfall of Pistyll Rhaeadr, both of which are within a 45 minute drive from  the camp near Welshpool.

When in Wales, you take advantage of a deserted, rugged coastline and rip. At least that's what UrbanFPV does in this edit of footage captured with his 5 inch Aramattan Chameleon as well as his DJI Mavic aerial cinematography drone. The flight moves from shredding the beach and zipping through ancient ruins, to scenic shots of an old lighthouse, gorgeous sunsets, and sunlight poking holes through the clouds in the countryside's rocky hills.  It will make you appreciate the beauty of this land from a brand new perspective! 

Located in Powys, Wales the Elan Valley is a river valley that covers around 180 square km (around 70 square mi.) of lake and countryside in the region sometimes referred to as Mid Wales.  Over 80% of the Elan Valley has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, meaning it is protected under UK preservation laws.  Incredibly peaceful, with still waters and lush, green forestry surrounding it, you can see why pilot Joshua Paul Gardner wanted to fly his drone above the valley in this fabulous aerial video. 

Explore the industrial history of Wales in this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone video by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot fpvshenanigans.  He was able to fly over the Dinorwic Quarry in Gwynedd, which at one point was the world's second-largest slate quarry.  Prior to its closure in 1969, it covered over a square mile (about three square km) and produced over 100k tons of the material annually.  At its peak, the mining operations here employed about 3,000 men.  It's now home to the National Slate Museum.  

AirVuz contributor Dr0ne Werks used a DJI Mini 2 to create this excellent drone video from the Snowdonia region of Wales in the United Kingdom.  Named for Mt. Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales, most of Snowdonia is encompassed in Snowdonia National Park, the third-oldest in the UK, which covers portions of Counties Gwynedd and Conwy.   The mountains here are some of the oldest in the world, and the glaciation which occurred during the most recent Ice Age created the distinctive-looking landscape you'll see in the video.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot GosHawkFPV takes us on a epic cruise along the coast of Wales in this fantastic video.  The title is accurate - he is cruising at an altitude so low you can just about smell the saltwater.  You'll also ride along just inches above the rocky coastline.  It makes for some mesmerizing visuals, and demonstrates some very impressive FPV piloting skills.  No wonder this video was chosen by the AirVuz staff as a pick for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in April of 2021.  

Explore the island of Anglesey in the UK region of Wales in this video by Colsam458, which was created using both drone and ground camera footage.  The first stop is the Menai Suspension Bridge, which connects the island with the Welsh mainland, followed by the 13th century Beaumaris Castle, a bit to the northeast.  Around the 2:00 mark, you'll see Penmon Point, at the eastern tip of the island, and the offshore Trwyn Du Lighthouse.  Other highlights include St. Cwyfan's Church, on the tidal island of Cribinau, and South Stack Lighthouse.

The town of Tenby lies in Pembrokeshire, a county of southeastern Wales in the United Kingdom.  Tenby played an important role in Welsh history during the centuries-long struggles between Wales and England, although its significance declined after the English Civil War in the 17th century. Contributor Aerial.Vantage.UK used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create a beautiful aerial video about this seaside town on Carmarthen Bay.  It includes footage of Tenby Castle, a 13th century fortification which sits on a small promontory.
