Explore the beauty of Portugal from above in this excellent video by top contributor Feeling Drone.  The video opens with shots of the Dom Luís I Bridge in Porto, Portugal's #2 city.  At the :23 mark, you'll see the Cabo De Roca Lighthouse on the Portuguese Riviera, followed by nearby Ursa Beach.  At :45, you'll see the Véu da Noiva Waterfall on the island of Madeira, and at 1:07 you'll see the historic Porto city center.  Other highlights include the Central Coast town of Nazaré (1:15), the town of Seixal on Madeira (1:50), and more.  

Top AirVuz contributor marco-trastu earned a spot as a DVOW Finalist with this fantastic travel piece from Portugal.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and a DJI Avata first person view (FPV) drone, the video covers portions of mainland Portugal as well as several of its islands.  At the :45 mark, you'll see the Ponta do Arnel Lighthouse on São Miguel Island in the Azores, followed by the Lighthouse of Cabo de São Vicente in the southern (mainland) region of Algarve.  Other featured locations include the rainforests of the island of Madeira.    

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Migo-Studios used a DJI Air 2S drone to create this beautiful video from Portugal.  The video incudes footage from the coastlines of the Sintra province; the Costa Vicentina in the region of Alentejo south of Lisbon; Arrábida Natural Park and Praia Ribeiro do Cavalo beach on the Setúbal Peninsula (also near Lisbon); the southern region of Algave; and the Vasco da Gama Bridge, which spans the Tagus River in Lisbon and is (as of 2022) the second-longest bridge in Europe.

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist Migo-Studios brings us this stunning drone reel from Portugal, all of which was filmed with a DJI Air 2S drone.  The video was shot throughout this beautiful Southern European country.  Some of the recognizable sites include the famous Ursa Beach on the Portuguese Riviera (starting at about the 1:00 mark); Barriga Beach in the southern Algarve region (around 1:30); and the Christ the King statue in Almada, across the Tagus River from Lisbon (2:25); and more.

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot flymydr8ne bids us Merry Christmas with this fantastic year-end drone reel from Portugal.  The video begins with some excellent shots of Porto, Portugal's great northern city, including its iconic Dom Luis Bridge.  At about the :26 mark, you'll see the magnificent Mafra National Palace just west of Lisbon, followed by a shot of the nearby Pena Palace.  Other highlights include the Castle of Silves in the southern region of Algarve (1:05), Lisbon's Commerce Square (1:27), and more.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor Migo-Studios brings us this excellent drone collage from Portugal.  Shot with a DJI Air 2S drone, the first part of the video was shot along the Portuguese coastline, with some great shots from Ursa Beach (Praia da Ursa) on the Portuguese Riviera as well as from the southern region of Algarve.  Later on in the video, you'll be taken into the Portuguese interior and also see some of the sights of Lisbon, including the 25 de Abril Bridge and the famous Christ the King statue.    

Top AirVuz contributor Tonycorreia returns after a three year hiatus to bring us this fantastic 2020 drone reel.  The video was filmed throughout Portugal, including the island of Madeira which lies off the coast of North Africa.  Much of the video was filmed over the Serra da Estrela, a mountain range which covers much of the northeastern part of the country.  The video features some exceptional aerial footage of wind turbine installations as well as some great shots of the giant turbine blades being transported on mountain roads.  

Most fans know that Game of Thrones was shot largely in Spain, Croatia, Malta, Northern Ireland, and Iceland. However, top contributor and drone pilot Escapeaway has their own take on the show with this piece shot in Portugal. You can see where they got the idea, with the plethora of historic castles, ancient ruins, narrow alleys, rolling hills, rocky seasides, and horses running wild. Escapeaway created this amazing drone video to record some of the highlights of a trip to Portugal.  It includes some of the most iconic sites in this beautiful and ancient land.  The film features footage of one of Portugal's large wind farms, the terraces of the Douro River in the Norte region, and the delightful province of Sintra.  Most of the rest of the footage was filmed around the great capital city of Lisbon.  At 1:40, you'll get an epic shot of  Praça do Comércio, the city's main square on the Tagus.

Former DVOW Finalist Kobebryt brings us this excellent drone video from Portugal.  The video opens with magnificent shots of Pena Palance in Sintra, just northwest of Lisbon, followed by the nearby Castle of the Moors.  Then you'll head south to one of the famous beaches of the Algarve region.  At the :23 mark, you'll see the Cabo de Roca lighthouse, back in Sintra Province.   Other featured locations include Lisbon's 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon (at the :35 mark) and Belem Tower (:43), the northern city of Porto (:53), and more.

Contributor and pilot Yoan-Guerreiro created this stunning drone video, which shows us the power of the DJI Mavic Air drone as well as the magnificent beauty of the Southern European country of Portugal.  The video features beautiful aerial footage of the northern city of Porto (Portugal's second largest city, after the capital city Lisbon) and the Algarve (the region which covers the southernmost part of the country).  This video was selected as a Finalist for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week contest in July of 2018.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner dronesantana007 brings us this this magnificent aerial tour of Lisbon, Portugal.  The video opens with shots of Commerce Plaza, one of Portugal's most iconic sites.  Just before the 1:00 mark, there's a marvelous view heading toward São Jorge Hill, and at 1:15 you'll see the 25 de Abril Bridge.  From there, you'll head to the Jerónimos Monastery, followed by the Monument of the Discoveries.  Other featured spots include Belém Tower (2:40), the Christ the King statue (3:30), and more.    

Explore the great city of Porto, Portugal from above in this excellent video by former DVOW Winner dronesantana007.  The video opens with a beautiful shot of the Ribeira district on the northern (right) bank of the Douro River, gradually revealing the famous Dom Luís I Bridge.  Next stop is the tower of the Clérigos Church, a Baroque masterpiece.  Just before 1:00, you'll see the Porto Cathedral, and at 1:55 there's another great shot of the Ribeira waterfront.  Other highlights include the Porto City Hall, seen just before 5:00.  

This drone video by Laurent Paris will show you why the Algarve region of Portugal has become one of the hottest destinations in southern Europe.  Algarve is the southernmost of the country's five official mainland regions, and also it's least populous.  As tourists have discovered the incredible beauty of the region's coastline, it's become one of the most popular destinations in the country, rivaling the Lisbon region (until recently the dominant region for tourism) by some measures.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Francisco Rodriguez put together this stunning compilation of footage from his native province of Sintra, Portugal.  The video opens with a magnificent sunrise shot of Pena Palace, the great 19th century Romanticist edifice which is situated about a half hour northwest of Lisbon.  Then it's on to the also-iconic lighthouse of Cabo de Roca, at the western extremity of mainland Portugal.   You'll also be treated to some epic surfing and paragliding footage from the Portuguese Riviera.

The Azores.  Located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, about 1.4k km (around 850 mi.) from mainland Portugal, this Portuguese archipelago is made up of nine volcanic islands. In this Drone Video of the Week Finalist video, pilot AeroGrafica takes us up above the islands' clouds, over the abundant waterfalls, around the steep, jutting cliffs which drop vertically to the ocean.  The video does a great job incorporating some epic selfie-type shots which show off the beauty of this natural wonder.  

Former DVOW Finalist TravelPenguin brings us this fantastic drone video of Alcácer do Sal, Portugal.  The town is located in the in the southern portion of the Setúbal District, which is part of the region of Alentejo (northern Setúbal District being part of the Greater Lisbon Region).  Situated on the banks of the Sado River, the area has been inhabited (albeit not continuously) for over 40k years.  Alcácer do Sal played an important role in the Reconquista struggle between Christianity and Islam as well as the later Crusades.  

Top contributor and former Drone Video of the Week winner ArturCarvalho created this excellent piece from his hometown of Cascais, Portugal.  Cascais is a beach town which is located about a half hour drive due west of Lisbon, just past the mouth of the Tagus River.   It's part of the Portuguese Riviera, a stretch of coastline west and northwest of Lisbon which became popular with the Portuguese Royal Family in the second half of the 19th century and continues to be one of Europe's most popular beach destinations.  

With its spectacular rock formations, cove beaches, and iconic lighthouses, Portugal offers some of the finest coastal scenery in Europe, much of it perfect for adventurous (and expeienced) FPV drone pilots.  In this video by AirVuz contributor Scottyblue77, you'll ride along for an epic tour of Portugal's Atlantic coastline on a trip that ran from the surfing capital of Nazaré in the central part of the coast, down through the Portuguese Riviera near Lisbon, and continuing into the Algarve, Metropolitan Portugal's southernmost region.   

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner ArturCarvalho brings us this fantastic drone video of the surfing scene in Nazaré, Portugal.  Located about 70 mi. (around 120 km) north of Lisbon in the Centro Region, Nazaré is the home of the Silver Coast, one of the top surfing spots in Europe.  Situated on the open Atlantic Ocean, Nazaré is known for some of the largest waves ever surfed: in early 2018, a Portuguese surfer caught a wave here thought to be as high as 35 meters (over 115 ft.), although that was unverified.  

Check out this magnificent video from the Portuguese island of Madeira, compliments of Drone Video Award winner videobros. Shot just before much of Portugal went into lockdown to combat the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic, the video plays upon the cloudcover which prevented the creator from hiking to the top of Pico Ruivo, the island's highest mountain. "Behind the Clouds" is a metaphor for the uncertainty faced by humanity as the deadly virus disrupts the lives of billions around the globe.  This video won DVOW in April 2020.

Former DVOW Winner denisbarbas created this stunning drone video memory of a summer trip to Portugal.  The video was shot in the Greater Lisbon (Grande Lisboa) region, which includes the national capital and extends some ways both north and south along the country's coastline.   Opening with some epic shots of the Portuguese Riviera, the video will then take you over the 25 de Abril Bridge, which spans the Tagus River in Lisbon.  Another highlight is at the 1:06 mark, with a great shot flying over the hilltop São Jorge Castle.  

Perhaps more than any other non-island country, Portugal is defined by its relationship to the sea.  With 1.8k km of coastline (just over 1k mi.), the vast majority of the country's roughly 10 million permanent residents live in its coastal cities and towns, and its top tourist destinations are almost entirely on its Atlantic and Bay of Biscay coastlines.  In this drone video by top AirVuz contributor Dem Niko, you'll get a superb aerial tour of the coastline of the country that launched Europe's Age of Discovery in the 15th century.  

Contributor and drone pilot Francisco Rodriguez created this beautiful aerial video of the great Portuguese city of Porto.  Once a Roman outpost, this city on the Douro River is steeped in history: it was the shipbuilders of Porto who helped launch Europe on its great Age of Exploration.  Famously, Porto Harbor was the launching point for Prince Henry the Navigator's exploratory trip to Africa in 1415, a voyage which was at least as consequential as that of Chrisopher Columbus later in the century.  

Setúbal is a medium-sized port city on the estuary of the Sado River, in the Greater Lisbon region of Portugal.  Situated a bit to the south of the city of Lisbon, its calm waters stand in stark contrast to the much rougher Atlantic waters of the cities along the country's Atlantic coast.  The city was once the center of Portugal's fishing industry, one of the largest in the world at one point.  Jorge Novo Murias used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create a bird's eye view of the waterfront of Setúbal at sunset.  

For cinematic drone footage of birds flying along a beautiful coastline, this video by contributor and drone pilot Skylight can't be beat.  He used a drone to capture a flock of seagulls on the coast of Portugal in the area of Alcobaca, which lies about midway down Portugal's Atlantic coastline in the Centro region of the country.  The video starts with an aerial shot of some spectacular rocks along the beach at sunset, and then picks up some stunning shots of the seagulls flying up the coast.

Contributor guydrory created this magnificent aerial view of Pena Palace, one of the great cultural treasures of Portugal and widely considered one of the world's top 4-5 castles.  It's located in the hills of the Sintra province, northwest of Lisbon.  Completed on the site of a ruined medieval monastery in 1854, it was built as a summer residence for the Portuguese Royal Family.  Its design represents one of the more prominent architectural expressions of 19th century Romanticist thought.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist TravelPengiun brings us this excellent drone video of the historic town of Sesimbra, Portugal.  Sesimbra is located in the Setúbal District, a bit south of Lisbon, in the Greater Lisbon Region.  It lies on the northern shore of Setúbal Bay, in a spot where proximity to major fish migration routes has sustained the town's fishing fleet for centuries.  It was once a significant naval port, whose warships protected the approaches to the mouth of the Tagus River and thus to Lisbon.  

Eminorcks created this epic drone video of Sintra, a culturally important Portuguese town in the Greater Lisbon area, just northwest of the capital city.  An ancient city that has long been one of the most important in Portugal, Sintra was "discovered" again beginning in the late 18th century, when many new structures were built in the Romanticist style.  It continues to be one of the biggest tourist destinations in Portugal, and its travel industry helps to propel the entire Greater Lisbon region of Portugal.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist TravelPenguin brings us this excellent drone video from Portugal's Cape St. Vincent (Cabo de São Vicente) and its famous lighthouse.  Part of the municipality of Sagres in the Algarve Region, the cape represents the southernmost tip of mainland Portugal.   A landmark for ships sailing in and out of the Mediterranean Sea, Cape St. Vincent has numerous naval battles to its name.  The current lighthouse structure here dates to 1846; it's been automated since 1982.  

The Azores is an archipelago of over 150 islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, grouped into an Eastern, Central, and Western sub-region. A territory and region of Portugal, there are nine main islands in the group, which have a combined population of just under a quarter million. In this drone video by Eneko Garcia-Amezaga, you'll get aerial views of four of the five largest Azores by population São Miguel, São Jorge, Pico and Faial. This video was a DVOW finalist in September, 2019.

Take in these aerial views of Portugal, compliments of new contributor RStory.  At about the :18 mark, you'll see the historic town of Sintra, northwest of Lisbon.  Starting at :34, there's a magnificent view of the Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse in Lagos, in the southern region of Algarve.  At :50, you'll see two of the great landmarks of Lisbon: the Church of Santa Engrácia (the domed building on the right) and the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora on the left.  At the 1:20 mark, you'll see the famous beach Praia do Camilo, also in Lagos.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist daniel.nunes brings us this fantastic drone video from the Algarve region of southern Portugal.  The video was shot in an area known as the Ria Formosa, a system of barrier islands and inlets which lies on Algarve's southern shore along the Bay of Cadiz.  Located near the town of Faro, the Ria Formosa is home to some of Algarve's most popular beaches.  It's an important wetland area and bird sanctuary; because of its ecological significance the Ria Formosa has been designated a Ramsar site by UNESCO.

AirVuz contributor and pilot hugo Aérodrone 4k brings this excellent drone video from Portugal.  The video features footage from the Greater Lisbon (Grande Lisboa) and Algarve Regions, the two most popular parts of the country with tourists.  Recognizable locations include Lisbon's Vasco de Gama Bridge and Commerce Square, the municipality of Sesimbra in the Setúbal District south of Lisbon, the civil parish of Sagres in the country's southwestern corner, and the city of Albufeira in Algarve's Faro District.

Contributor Tonycorreia created this award-winning drone video of the mountains of northern Portugal.  The Serra da Estrela mountain range runs across much of northeastern Portugal.  It's part of a larger system which runs into northern Spain.  The highest elevation point of the range is around 2.0k meters (about 6.5k ft.).  The bulk of the range is situated in the northern part of the country's Centro (Central) region, although the mountains stretches northward into the  country's Norte region as well.       

Contributor guydrory managed to condense a 10 day trip through Portugal into this amazing 60 second drone reel.  The video opens with an epic shot of Pena Palace, the Romanticist masterpiece which is situated in the Sintra province.  From there, you'll be taken over the famous rock formations of nearby Cascais Beach, and the Belém Tower fortification in the Tagus River which defended Lisbon.  From there it's on to hilltop medieval castles, verdant river valleys, and more from this beautiful country.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor jfabraga brings us this very impressive 2021 drone reel.  Like many drone pilots who initially flew gimbal-stabilized DJI drones, she has expanded her flying skills to be able to fly first person view (FPV) drones.  And how!  The reel features incredible shots from across her native Portugal.  You'll be treated to some outstanding views ranging from the waterfalls of Flores (one of the Azores) to the famous rock formations on the mainland Poruguese coast to some great car-chasing footage.    

Contributor TravelPenguin created this awesome 4k drone video of the great Portuguese city of Porto. Porto is the country's second city (after Lisbon) and is the center of the main urban concentration of the northern part of the country. It sits on the estuary of the Douro River, a few km/mi inland from its mouth on the Atlantic Ocean.  The video features footage of the Porto historical city center (which is a UNESCO World Heritage site), the famous Dom Luís I Bridge over the Douro River, and more. This video was a DVOW finalist in August, 2019.
