The Sarawak River runs through the western part of Malaysian Borneo, the portion of Malaysia which is shared with its neighbor Indonesia (the other portion of Malaysia sitting on the Malay Peninsula).  While the Sarawak is a modest 120 km (75 mi) long, it is an important source of water to the area.  In this video, top contributor and pilot Nava flew his drone over the river at dusk, when the sun turns the river to a brilliant yellow color.  The bird's eye view of this phenomenon is breathtaking.

Langkawi is an archipelago of about 100 islands sitting off of peninsular Malaysia, in the Andaman Sea.  The islands lie close to Thailand, which lies to their northwest.  These islands have become a popular tourist spot in recent years, with travelers seeking their white sand beaches and spectacular surrounding waters.   Contributor Kakikujalanjalan used a drone to create this amazing aerial view of these equatorial islands, whose beaches are beginning to appear in many "world's top beaches" lists.

Malaysia is one of the world's largest countries of the Islam faith.  Depending on estimates, it's in the top 20-25 countries in terms of practitioners of the world's largest faith, and that means lots of prominent mosques.  The Federal Territory Mosque lies in the center of Kuala Lumpur.  Completed in 2000, the mosque is an architectural marvel.  In this video, contributor Kakikujalanjalanflies over this magnificent looking building, whose blue spires are now one of the most distinctive sights of KL.

The Southeast Asian country of Malaysia is split in two: a "mainland" at the southern end of the Malay Peninsula and a portion which occupies the northern part of the giant island of Borneo.  While nearly 90% of the country's population resides in the former, the latter makes up about 60% of its land area.  In this drone video by contributor Woodbird, you'll get an aerial view of the rainforests of Sabah, the eastern of the two Malaysian Borneo states.  The video was shot with a Mavic Pro 2 between the cities of Kota Kinabalu and Kudat.

Historically, it was a popular destination for pirates which dominated some of the islands until as recently as the late 1800's. You won't see any pirates in this aerial video by dimasdiga, just plenty of glorious, aerial views of the Malaysian island town.  Malaysia is split between a portion which lies on the Malay Peninsula and another on the nortnern part of Borneo.

Malaysia's Batu Caves is the most important site in the country for the roughly 6% of Malaysians who practice Hinduism.  Located in the western state of Selangor, the site is a complex of temples and statues built in and around a series of caves.  In this drone video by DroneEyePerspective, you'll get an aerial tour of the complex.  The video includes great footage of the site's most recognizable landmark: the giant Lord Murugan Statue, which stands 43 meters tall (143 ft.) and is the world's third-highest Hindu statue.

Contributor Digi Focus put together this awesome drone reel from the Malaysian city of Ipoh.  It's the capital of the state of Perak, in northwestern Peninsular Malaysia.  Located in the interior of the country about 125 km (around 75 mi.) southeast of Georgetown, it's the third largest city in this Southeast Asian country.  Ipoh was figuratively put on the map by a massive discovery of tin deposits in the late 1800's.  More recently, it's become a hub for tourists seeking to explore the Cameron Highlands.

Contributor Discmo created this beautiful drone video of an important mountain in southern Malaysia.  Mt. Ophir is situated in the state of Johor, the southernmost of the states on the peninsular portion of the country.  The mountain has a peak elevation of around 1.3k meters above seal level (around 4.2k ft.).  The mountain is tied to a story in local folklore about a princess with magical powers, and it is thought that at one point the mountain was the source of some gold and silver deposits.

Check out this amazing drone video of an important island in Malaysia, compliments of contributor kakikujalanjalan.  Manukan Island is located in the state of Sabah, which occupies the eastern end of the Borneo portion of Malaysia (the island being shared with Indonesia).  Manukan is part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, which covers five islands in this area.  The island is accessible by public speedboat from the port of Kota Kinabalu on the "mainland" on the world's third largest island by land area.

Content creator and pilot FlyingAyam used a drone to create this aerial video of Malaysia's just-completed Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge.  The bridge crosses the Terengganu River in the city of Kuala Terengganu.  The city is the capital of the state of Terengganu, which sits on the eastern side of peninsular Malaysia, between the states of Kelaritan and Pahang .   The bridge, believed to be the first drawbridge in all of Southeast Asia, opened to a large crowd of spectators on June 2, 2019.

New AirVuz contributor babychaix brings us this impressive drone video of a giant modern mosque in Malaysia.  It's called the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque, and it's the official state mosque of Selangor, a state which covers a western portion of peninsular Malaysia.  It's located in Shah Alam, the state capital city.  With four minarets and distinguished by its blue and silver dome, it's the Malaysia's largest mosque and one of the ten largest in the entire region of Southeast Asia.  It was completed in 1988.

Contributor DroneEyePerspective created this excellent aerial view of spot in the Southeast Asian nation of Malaysia.  It's called the Portuguese Settlement, and it's located on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia (ie, the mainland part of the country).  It's in the state of Malacca, a largely coastal state which lies due south of Kuala Lampur.  This was the first area of modern-day Malauysia colonized by Europe, specifically the Portuguese who came here beginning in the 16th century.

Check out this amazing drone video of one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot amirul aiman.  It's called the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque, and it's in the Malaysian city of Shah Alam.  The mosque was built in the 1980's in connection with Shah Alam becoming the new capital of the Malaysian state of Selangor.  It's sometimes called the Blue Mosque in reference to its blue and white color scheme.  Among mosques in Southeast Asia, only Jakarta's Istiqlal Mosque is larger.

AirVuz contributor Akraber brings us this excellent drone video of Malaysia's Cameron Highlands.  This uploand area is situated in the interior of northern peninsular Malaysia, in the state of Pehang.  One of Malaysia's oldest tourist regions, the Highlands cover a land area of about 275 square mi. or a bit over 700 square km.  Among other things, the area is notable for its large tea plantations, one of which you'll see in the video.  Altitudes here are generally in a range of about 2.6k-5.3k ft. above sea level (800 to 1.6k m).

Check out this drone video from the city of Kuantan, Malaysia, compliments of AirVuz contributor babychaix.  Kuantan is the capital of Pahang, a large but relatively sparsely populated state which covers a large area of peninsular Malaysia.  With a population of about a half-million residents, it's the largest city on mainland Malaysia's eastern coast.  The focus of the video is the Kuantan 188 tower, so named for its height of 188 meters (about 617 ft.).  It's Malaysia's second-tallest observation tower after Kuala Lumpur Tower.

One of the more well-known historical landmarks of Malaysia is the Sultan Ibrahim Building in Johor Bahru, the southernmost city of peninsular Malaysia. Located just across the Strait of Johor from Singapore, the landmark was constructed as a secretariat building in the late 1930's on the eve of World War II, in the waning days of British control of Malaysia.  It was the tallest building on the Malay Peninsula for decades.  Seen here in this drone video by Max Altitude, there are plans to convert the building into a museum.

Check out this drone video of one of the largest football stadiums in Malaysia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot babychaix.  Shah Alam Stadium is located in its namesake city, the capital of the state of Selangor.  With seating capacity of just over 80k it's the second-largest stadium in Southeast Asia, after Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.  The home of the Selangor F.C. professional football team, the facility opened in 1994.  Its frame design incorporates the world's largest free-standing arch.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor HKSTUDIOVIDEOGRAPHY brings us an excellent drone video of a beautiful beach in Malaysia.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Air 2 over Kelambu Beach in Kudat, which is part of the state of Sabah.  Sabah is one of two Malaysian states (along with Sarawak) located on the northern side of the giant island of Borneo, which is shared with Indonesia.  It's home to some of Malaysia's (and indeed Southeast Asia's) fastest-growing beach tourism destinations.

AirVuz contributor next art created this beautiful video from a family trip to one of Malaysia's more well-known beach areas.  The video was shot with a combination of drone (DJI Mavic Air) and ground camera footage in Kemaman, the southernmost district of the state of Terengganu.  Terengganu is one of the country's 16 Constituent States, which includes 13 states and three Federal Territories.  It's located in the northeastern part of the country, with a long coastline on the South China Sea.

Check out this drone video of a giant development in Malaysia called Bandar Sunway, compliments of new AirVuz contributor and pilot babychaix.  Also known as Sunway City, it's part of the city of Subang Jaya in the western coastal state of Selangor.  Named after its developer, the Sunway Group, the centerpiece of the development is the Sunway Pyramid, an Egyptian-themed shopping center and entertainment complex which opened in 1997 and which is prominently featured in the video.  The development is also home to two large universities.

Much of Malaysia's land area of 330k square km (about 127k square mi.) is tropical rainforest.  The interior of both peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo is covered by dense jungle, covering hundreds of thousands of square km.  In this video, contributor and pilot Kakikujalanjalan flew his drone over the area around Bukit Gambang in peninsular Malaysia to create this epic view of the dense rainforest in this equatorial wonderland which is located in the very heart of Southeast Asia.

Malacca is a city in southern Malaysia.  It's situated on the eponymously named strait, and is the capital of the State of Malacca.  While the city is now only a fraction of the size of Kuala Lampur (which lies to its south), Malacca is the far older of the two cities.  It was the center of Portuguese and later Dutch rule of much of Southeast Asia, and at one time was one of the most important port cities in all of Asia.  Check out this aerial video of historic Malacca, compliments of contributor dronedoodle.

Malaysia's Batu Caves are one of the most important cultural sites in this Southeast Asian country, as well as one of the most important sites in Hinduism outside of India.  The complex is located in the town of Gombak in Selangor, a state on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia.  Formed about 400 million years ago, the caves caught the attention of the Hindu cleric K. Thamboosamy Pillay in the 19th century.  Distinguished by the giant statue of Lord Murugan, the caves are the focus of the annual Hindu celebration of Thaipusam.

Here's a nice dronelapse view of an important city in Malaysia, compliments of contributor Aris_aa.  Kuching is the capital of the state of Sarawak, the largest of Malaysia's 13 states by land area.  Sarawak is one of the two states which make up the portion of the country which sits on Borneo (the other being Sabah, which lies to its north and east).  Situated on the Sarawak River, Kuching has become a hub for tourists (particularly eco-tourists) seeking to explore the interior of Malaysian Borneo.
