Female Drone Pilots

Soar over the historic city of Valletta on the Mediterranean island of Malta in this outstanding drone video by Fpv_travel_girl.  The video opens with a great shot looking southwest over Marsamxett Harbour towards St. Paul's Cathedral and beyond that to the Grand Harbor. Then it's on to the star-shaped Fortress of St. Elmo, which guards the entrance to both the harbors, followed by Triton Fountain, just outside the City Gate.  The video concludes with a shot looking northwest from St. Paul's towards Tigné Point in neighboring Sliema.  

New contributor Ananda Joinet spent a week in Iceland with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone and produced this stunning video record of the trip.   The video features footage of some of the most spectacular sites on this North Atlantic island, including the Icelandic Highlands, the Vatnajökull icecap (the largest glacier in Iceland and the second-largest in Europe); the mighty Skogafoss waterfall; Landmannalaugar, in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the Highlands; Múlagljúfur Canyon; and Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon.  

If you think Texas is flat, you'll definitely be surprised by this stunning drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot Lostgirl Adventures.  The video was filmed over an area outside of Big Bend National Park in Brewster County, in the western part of the state.  Part of the Chihuahuan Desert (a vast arid area which includes portions of New Mexico, Arizona, and several Mexican states), the landscapes here bear much closer resemblance to those of southern Utah or Arizona than to the plains of East Texas or the Pandhandle.    

AirVuz contributor Shannon Pace @dronexplorerr brings us this excellent drone video of Anchor Bay on the Mediterranean island of Malta.  A deep, narrow bay on the main island's northwestern coast (not far from the town of Mellieha), the village here is sometimes called Popeye Village in honor of a movie filmed here decades ago: the 1979 Robert Altman's film adaptation of the popular comic stip and cartoon series.  The film represented the big screen debut of a young actor named Robin Williams.  

This drone video highlight reel from Iceland earned talented AirVuz contributor and pilot Jfabraga a Drone VIdeo of the Week Finalist spot.  Created with a combination of footage from gimbal-stabilized and first person view (FPV) drones, as well as from a ground camera, the video will take you over some of the most scenic spots on this island of the North Atlantic Ocean.  Expertly edited, you'll soar over some of Iceland's canyons, black sand beaches, simmering geothermal hot-spots, and even the erupting Fagradalsfjall volcano.   

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor kerrymatthew brings us this excellent drone video from West Sussex, one of the counties of South East England.  The video includes footage from along the West Sussex English Channel coast as well as from the hills and forests on the interior of the county.  Specific locations include the city of Chichester; the coastal village of East Witterings; the interior market town of Midhurst; and the Chichester Marina.  You'll see some shots of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, well to the west.  

AirVūz contributor DroneProduction.ru spent two weeks in the North Atlantic island nation of Iceland, capturing an astonishing 2 terabytes worth of video footage.  She then used this raw material - captured with a DJI Inspire 2, a Mavic Pro 2, and a Sony a9 ground camera - to create this stunning video of some of the world's most beautiful scenery.   The video, which won the Drone Video of the Week contest and earned a nomination at the 6th annual New York City Drone Film Festival, features truly epic shots from across the island.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand New AirVuz contributor teamdirtydrone (aka Sarah Phillips) brings us this fantastic DVOW nominated international travel aerial reel.  The fast-paced compilation features footage from around the world.  Highlights include California's Lake Tahoe; the rivers of Bangladesh; downtown Detroit, Michigan; the skyscrapers of downtown Los Angeles, California; hill towns and mountains in Italy; the Angell of Independence statue in central Mexico City; and other beautiful footage from an unknown canyon, a desert, and more.

Prepare to be blown away by this collage of winter aerial views of Russia's Lake Baikal, compliments of top contributor and drone pilot DroneProduction.ru.  The video opens with an epic shot of some giant rock formations of this natural wonder in Siberia, the world's largest freshwater lake by water volume.  From there, you'll be taken over the frozen lake and its shoreline to see, among other things, some epic "drifting" action as well as an ice hovercraft (starting at about :50!).  This video won DVOW in May 2019.

Top contributor Sandrine Hecq travels to some of the world's most exotic places to make travel videos for her social media audience.  To make this magnificent video, nominated for DVOW in June 2019, she traveled to the island of Nusa Penida in Indonesia's Bali province.  It's situated more or less due east of Denpasar, the provincial capital, which lies at the southern end of Bali's main island.  Nusa Penida is known for its bird sanctuaries, mountainous interior, white-sand beaches, and world-class diving.

In a temperate climate like Ontario, Canada, the transition from winter to spring is as profound as that from summer to fall.  The transition can occur quite quickly, depending on weather conditions.  In this amazing video, contributor elnaz555 filmed the Ontario landscape over a three week period and used timelapse editing to put together this remarkable aerial perspective of Canada's largest province turning from winter to spring.  The aerial footage in the video was captured with a DJI Phantom 4 drone. 

Despite its relatively modest size, Bali is one of the best known islands in the giant archipelago of Indonesia.  The island, which lies just to the east of much larger Java, is considered one of the world's top beach destinations.  Contributor andn pilot Tiffany3ui brought some friends and a drone to Bali in 2017 and created this remarkable travel video.  Watch it to get an aerial glimpse of glimpse Bali’s markets, beaches, and resorts, from the unique perspective that only a drone can deliver.

Sitting just across the Intracoastal Waterway from the larger city of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Florida is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States.  The oldest and most fashionable hotel in Palm Beach is the Breakers, a 538 room lodging built by oil and railroad tycoon (and John D. Rockefeller Standard Oil partner) Henry Flagler in 1896.  Top contributor Queen of the Drone treats us to a spectacular aerial tour of this magnificent hotel on one of America's most exclusive beaches.

This marvelous drone video takes us on quite the adventure starting with some bird's eye view shots that really draw us in. From the beautiful monuments of Dubrovnik, to the amazing landscapes of the Alps, contributor @swisslapse begins a new chapter in his film journey by capturing his favorite locations from above. As the first aerial video this drone pilot ever created, it’s safe to say he’s a true natural with a drone.

While the Central American country of Panama is primarily associated with the great canal that bears its name and the skyscrapers of its namesake capital city, the country is home to some far less well known yet spectacular natural scenery.  Contributor and pilot imoveisbrasilbahia created this beautiful drone video of some remote areas along the western part of the country's long Pacific Ocean coastline, including Morro Negrito, Isla Silva, El Toro and the rapidly-emerging surf area of Cambutal. 

This beautiful aerial reel is a perfect homage to Women Who Drone, and who better to represent women drone influencers than top AirVuz constibutor Sandrine Hecq? The talented content creator compiled all her favorite drone shots from her unforgettable travels to both share the backstory for how she was drawn to create in this new art medium, as well as show appreciation to women in the drone zone. This video was picked as a Finalist in the second annual Drone Videos Awards in the People/Lifestyle category.

Content creator daehwa put together a truly inspired piece of drone work that's all about her travels in Europe.  Through 53 days of travel, she discovered places far and wide that brought a smile to her face — that can be seen in her dronies scattered throughout this aerial reel! At the youthful age of 22, she lived it up and documented the unforgettable experience from her DJI Spark drone.

Contributor and pilot Elena Buenrostro has turned her passion for drones and aerial videography into a career; she's been featured in numerous high profile publications including the Washington Post and Fast Company.  In this video, she puts her DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to work creating an look at the Caribbean island of Jamaica.  The video includes epic timelapse and asteroid mode shots, and a very creative dronie with her "Woman Who Drone" tagline etched into the famous white sands of this tropical Caribbean island.

Queen of the Drone is known for her fun and entertaining music video-style edits. The Florida native knows how to have a good time! This video isn’t one of those crazy edits, it’s her way of showcasing her hometown of Fort Myers while making a visual memory of a day well spent with family. 

Founder and CEO of Women Who Drone,  Elena Buenrostro is killing the dronie game with this flyout and reveal of the New York City skyline as well as its emerging satellite in Queens.  The first shot is from Brooklyn facing west, with Freedom Tower luring in the background and the massive Con Ed powerplant on the East River in the foreground.  The second reveal faces north to the Long Island City mini-skyline in Long Island City, a newer high-rise district which sprung up in recent years in the western end of Queens.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner DroneProduction.ru brings us this stunning drone video of stand-up paddleboarders on Russia's Volga River.  Shot at sunrise, the video was filmed near the town of Konakovo in the Tver Oblast, northwest of Moscow.  It's on a southern bend in the great river, which takes it to its closest point from Moscow before veering to the northeast and away from the national capital.  As you'll see in the video, the glass-smooth waters of Europe's longest waterway are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding.  

Top AirVuz content creator and drone pilot Kasz Photo Creative was a 2017 Drone Video Awards Finalist in the aerial photography category. Specializing in aerial photography, she says this was her first attempt at creating a drone demo reel. We're pretty sure it won't be her last!  Featuring aerial views of the changing seasons, a cresting whale, beachside dronies, a wide variety of beach and ocean shots, winter scenes and more. Kasz's bevy of work, largely based out of California, is wide and impressive!

Equipped with the new DJI Osmo Pocket, a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone, and tickets to Seychelles, drone influencer Merr Watson takes us away on an unforgettable adventure in this tropical paradise in the western Indian Ocean which consists of 115 separate islands.  As she and her companion explore the beaches, rainforests, markets, and tourist attractions, she uses her DJI gear to its full potential to demonstrate how it can capture all the beauty of a destination from a range of perspectives.  

A Women Who Drone Ambassador, Drone Video of the Year Nominee, and DJI Creator, Merr Watson is an internationally recognized force to be reckoned with! In this Drone Video of the Week nominee, Merr explains how she started flying and why she finds drones to be such a compelling vehicle for storytelling. FPV superstar Harley Queen FPV took her quad out for a coastal coast on the edge of Australia.  Her smooth flying style in combination with the rushing waves and choppy cliffs, at golden hour make for a perfect cinematic flight.  Cut between the first person views are pops of local wildlife and the scenic beach, but each frame is quintessentially Harley Queen FPV!

New contributor and drone pilot ashhmonster brings us this fantastic drone video of the South Atlantic Ocean island of Bermuda.  A British Overseas Territory, Bermuda is located about 1k km (around 630 mi.) southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.  Unoccupied before the arrival of Europeans in the early 16th century, Bermuda went on to become an important center for shipbuilding and later for the salt trade.  Famous for its blue waters and pink sand beaches, Bermuda is a popular alternative to the more tropical islands to its south.  

Blue Owl FPV is representing female pilots well in this video, which was nominated in the Freestyle Flow category for the second annual Drone Video Awards. She says she decided to rip around a bit while waiting for skiing season to start in the French Alps. What she got was an inspiring flight barrel-rolling over the frozen ground, diving through the trees, power-looping around the side of the mountain, and smooth flying.   This was a DVOW Finalist and also a pick for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in December, 2018.    

Drone pilot Swisslapse returned to the historic, fortified city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, armed with a DJI Phantom Pro and a plan to catch the city in its best light.  In doing so, she captured sights Game of Thrones fans will recognize from Seasons 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Watch closely for Minceta Tower, where Daenerys looked for her dragons, Fort Lovrijenac, which stood as the Red Keep, and Pile Harbour, which was the setting for both Blackwater Bay and the shores of Kings Landing.

Top contributor and vlogger Sandrine Hecq headed to Cape Town, South Africa to make this video of what many consider to be the world's most beautiful city.  Using drone, ground, and underwater camera footage, she takes us on an epic trip to this incredible spot near the tip of the African continent.  From climbing Tabletop Mountain to her trademark selfie pull-out shots off of Signal Mountain, there is something for everyone here, even shark lovers (you'll have to watch to see what we mean!)

Check out this outstanding showreel by AirVūz contributor MadameDrone. This reel has a variety of footage including beautiful landscape views such as the Cantabrian Mountains of northwestern Spain, two-wheel and car chasing, wildlife in their natural habitat, and landmarks such as the 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon, Portugal.  This Spanish based aerial cinematography and photography company uses a DJI Inspire for their aerial footage. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in December 2020. 

Mo'orea is a triangle-shaped island located just 17 km (around 11 mi.) northwest of Tahiti.  Like its neighbor, it's part of French Polynesia, a vast French overseas collectivity which consists of nearly 120 islands and atolls stretched out over 2k km (1.2k mi.) across the South Pacific.  Mo'orea's legendary white sand beaches and clear waters have made it an increasingly popular destination, particularly for honeymoons.  You can check out this bit of paradise from above in this excellent drone video by new contributor ashhmonster.  

AirVuz contributor ashhmonster brings us this excellent drone view from an ecological preserve on the island of Bermuda.  It's called the Spittal Pond Nature Preserve, and it's located on the southern coast of this British dependency in the South Atlantic Ocean.  Part of Bermuda's largest wildlife sanctuary, the pond is home to a unique combination of nutrients which turn its water into a bright pink color once a year.  As you'll see in the video, which was captured with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, it makes for some stunning aerial visuals.  

Enjoy this compilation, taken from footage of a five month trip along Reunion Island, by pilot hitthteroad.today. The nearly five-minute film features the French department in the Indian Ocean. Reunion Island is known for its volcanic, rain forested interior, coral reefs and its gorgeous beaches. Most people familiar with the island will have heard of Piton de la Fournaise, the climbable active volcano on the island. This was featured on our social media pages in December of 2018. 

Translating to “white forest” in French, Vars La Forêt Blanche is a lovely ski resort in the French Alps. Featuring over 115 trails, 185 km (115 miles) of slopes and 360-dgree views of Mont Ventoux, Mont Blanc (the highest peak in the entire Alps system), the Ecrins, and the Italian peaks the area is an incredibly popular destination for locals. Pilot hittheroad.today captured the unique destination with her DJI Mavic Air in this beautiful winter flight, which was recorded in brilliant 4k.

Top contributor wrenee has a well earned reputation as the Queen of the Dronie.  Her AirVuz video portfolio consists of dozens of epic drone selfies shot from exotic places all over the world.  In this video wrenee and her drone, Furbie, collaborated to shoot a spectacular dronie on the Greek island of Milos outside of an abandoned sulphur mine.  Milos is the southwesternmost of the Cyclades islands, in the western Aegean Sea.  Among other distinctions, it was the home of the Venus de Milo statue before it was moved to Paris.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Karen Moreno brings us this excellent drone video from the South American country of Colombia.  Fast-moving and very well edited, the video features a mix of landscape, cityscape, and "people" shots (including some outstanding shots of the filmmaker as she wanders throughout the country).  You'll soar over valleys of the Andes Mountains, giant waterfalls, giant cities.  At about the 1:00 mark, there's a great shot of the coastal city of Cartegena.
