Bird's Eye Views of Denmark

Take an aerial tour of the Scandinavian country Denmark in this remarkable drone video by contributor and drone pilot Yan Nielsen.  Denmark is the smallest of the mainland Nordic countries by land area, but in population it's second only to Sweden.  While the video features footage from across the country, most of the focus is on the capital city Copenhagen.  The city is built on the island of Zeeland on the Strait of Øresund, a narrow waterway which is one of the four routes between the Baltic and North Seas.  

In this amazing piece by top content creator Timelab.pro, you'll explore the icebergs of Greenland, the world's largest island.  Filmed primarily DJI Inspire 3, with additional footage from a first person view (FPV) drone, the video was shot while traveling on boat with scarlet sails that stand out brilliantly from the white icebergs.  Home to the world's second-largest ice cap after Antarctica, Greenland is the source of most of the icebergs seen in the Northern Hemisphere.  This was a Finalist for the 2023 Drone Video of the Year.  

Top contributor Drone My Life won the 2022 AirVuz Drone Video of the Year award for this fantastic video from the Faroe Islands, a Danish chain of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean.  Beautifully edited, the video combines footage from a DJI Mavic 3 Cine drone as well as first person view (FPV) drone footage.  Some of the featured locations include the úlafossur waterfall, which drops straight into the sea; and the needle-like Trøllkonufingur rock pillar.  Around the 1:24 mark, you'll fly (via FPV) through an impossibly-narrow canyon.

The island of Mon, Denmark sits at the far easten end of the Scandinavian country, in the Baltic Sea.  With white chalk cliffs, small market towns, and white sand beaches, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Denmark.  Due to some of its unique natural features, the island has been designated as a UNESCO biosphere reserve.  Content creator and pilot Morten used a drone to create a stunning video of his home island, providing a brilliant aerial view of this Danish island outpost.  

Multiple DVOW Winner scientik brings us this magnificent drone video from the Faroe Islands, a Danish archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean.  The vieo was shot with the new DJI Mini 3 Pro drone in June of 2022.  It captures the filmmaker and a friend exploring the islands, which consist of 18 major islands and nearly 800 smaller islands, most of which are uninhabited.  Located about halfway between the mainland of Norway and Iceland, the Faroe Islands are an increasingly popular destination for adventure-oriented travelers.  

Navigating between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea involves passing near various points on the coast of Denmark, and the going can be treacherous due to winds, currents, and narrow passageways, in addition to heavy shipping traffic.  In this video, contributor Magnus Bo Hansen used a drone to create a bird's eye view of the Rujberg Knude lighthouse, which sits atop a 60 m (200 ft) cliff overlooking the North Sea near the northern tip of the country.   It's one of the most well known lighthouses in Europe.   

The town of Skagen sits at the northern tip of Denmark.  The medieval city sits at an important location, controlling the vital passageway between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.  While not a large town, Skagen is a popular tourist destination, and at times has been frequented by the Danish Royal Family.  Contributor and pilot Magnus Bo Hansen used a drone to create an impressive bird's eye view of this very old town, which is part of the official North Jutland Region of this Scandinavian country.

LarsBülow created this impressive drone video of Hammershus Castle, probably the most famous castle in Scandinavia.  It's situated on the island of Bornholm, a Danish island lying to the east of the mainland in the Baltic Sea.  The castle was built in the 13th century, and played an important role in the struggles between Denmark and its rivals in the region.  Classified as a ruin (although partially restored in the early 1900's), it's believed to be the largest medieval-era castle in Europe.

Denmark occupies a strategic position in Europe by virtue of its location between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.  For this reason, it was one of the first countries to be occupied by Nazi Germany near the outset of World War II, beginning in April of 1940.  While the country did not see significant fighting, its defenses were heavily fortified by Germany during the occupation.  In this video, contributor MStone gives us a drone's-eye view of bunkers built by the Nazis to protect against Allied amphibious landings. 

In this drone video by Franek Epic Movies, you'll get bird's eye views of two of the most well known landmarks in Denmark. Frederiksborg Castle is located in the northern part of Zealand Island, just north of Copenhagen.  It was built in the 17th century as the royal palace for the king of Norway-Denmark, which were merged under one crown from 1523-1814.  Charlottenlund Palace was a former summer residence for the royalty of Denmark; completed in 1881, it lies just to the north of central Copenhagen.    

Award-winning content creator Florian Ledeaux created this stunning drone video of Greenland, the world's largest island, which is part of the territory of Denmark in the North Atlantic Ocean.  Sailing around Greenland and towards northern Canada, he used his drone to create a breathtaking aerial view of massive icebergs, walruses, Beluga whales, and even unicorn-like Narwhal.   An avid environmentalist, Ledoux aims to use his videos to illustrate the fragility of the eco-system to climate change. 

Check out this excellent drone video of Denmark's largest lake, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot littleviking.  Lake Arreskove (Arresø) is located on the island of Zealand, one of Europe's largest islands, which separates the North Sea from the Baltic Sea.  Covering about 15 square mi. (around 40 square km), the lake is quite shallow - only about 18 ft. (about 5.5 m) at its deepest point.  Lake Arreskove is about 27 mi. (around 43 km) northwest of the Danish capital city of Copenhagen.  

Contributor Haussmannvisuals hit the mark with this epic drone video of the Faroe Islands, a group of Danish controlled isles in the North Atlantic Ocean.  The video will show you some of the hundreds of islands and islets which make up the group, replete with magnificent volcanoes, gushing waterfalls, sheer cliffs, and coastal rock formations.  Specific locations featured include Tórshavn, the regional capital city on Streymoy Island; the western island of Mykines; and, Gásadalur, a village on the island of Vágar.

Aarhus is the second-largest city in the Scandinavian country of Dennmark, after Copenhagen.  With roots as a 9th century Viking settlement, Aarhus is located about two hours north of Copenhagen on the eastern Jutland coast.  Among other distinctions, Aarhus is the center of Denmark's burgeoning rock scene and is the home of numerous internationally known bands.  In this drone video by Mikkel Lassalle Soerensen, you'll see the prosperous city by night, from the perspective of a DJI Mavic Air drone.  

Top contributor DroneDirector created this stunning drone video of Bornholm, one of the most important islands of the Baltic Sea.  Fought over for centuries, it's a territory of Denmark, but it lies well to the east of the mainland and is actually closer to Poland.  It is perhaps best known for the enormous Hammershus Castle on its southern coast; seen in the video, it's the largest fortress in northern Europe and testament to the island's historical strategic importance covering the Baltic's sole outlet.  

Contributor David.Haring used a DJI Spark drone to aerially film two of the most well known landmarks in Denmark.  The first is Frederiksborg Castle, a Baroque masterpiece in the town of Hillerød, just north of Copenhagen.  Built in the 17th century, it's one of the largest castles in Scandinavia.  The second location is Kronborg Castle.  Located in Helsingør, also in eastern Denmark, Kronborg was immortalized as Elsinore Castle in Shakespeare's classic, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.  

Denmark's limestone cliffs of Møns are in a league with England's chalk cliffs of Dover, albeit less well known.  Situated in the Baltic Sea, Møns is one of Denmark's largest islands.  The famous limestone cliffs are technically called Møns Klint, which is a 6m (4 mi.) stretch of coastline on the eastern side of the island.  They are one of the reasons why the island has been designated as the first UNESCO biosphere reserve.  You can see these magnificent cliffs in this drone video by contributor morten.  

Prepare to be swept away by this stunning drone video from Greenland, compliments of top contributor Brendon Dixon.  He journeyed from Iceland to eastern Greenland aboard the old fashioned sailing ship Arktika, and brought along a very modern piece of equipment to record the journey: a DJI Phantom 4 drone.  The result is absolutely spectacular.  Greenland is truly one of the last frontiers, and the bird's eye footage of the beautiful wooden ship navigating its iceberg fields will astound you.  

Hit the road with contributor Boyanoo and his travel buddy, @Kaptain.kenny, on their aerial adventure through the Faroe Islands. Cruising through roads that wind between the Danish island's sea towns, tight sounds, and craggy mountains, and mind-blowing rock formations along its coasts, the sights seen from above completely arrest the viewer's attention. Similar yet quite distinct from Iceland (to which the Faroes are often compared), there's nothing else quite like them on Earth.

Contributor and pilot Marten Kählert created this magnificent drone video of an area in the far western reaches of mainland Denmark.  Blåvandshuk is a town situated on a peninsula which juts out into the North Sea from the Danish mainland.  It's just a short distance from Esbjerg, the country's fifth-largest city and the largest in the western part of the country.  The video opens with an amazing shot of the Blåvand Lighthouse, the westernmost structure of mainland Denmark.  

With its windswept plains, Denmark is the poster-child for the world's wind power industry: in recent years, it's climbed above the 40% mark in terms of the amount of its electrical power generation created by the wind.  The home to the world's largest wind turbine manufacturer (Vestas) has now taken the lead in deploying even larger turbines in offshore wind farms.  In this drone video by Tech Drone Media, you'll get an aerial view of the massive 3.5MW turbines at the Advedøre Holme facility south of Copenhagen.  

Top AirVuz contributor AIRFLIX created this rather haunting video of the great Danish city of Copenhagen in a state of near-lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020.  Produced with a mix of drone and ground camera footage, the video will take you around one of Scandinavia's great cities with its streets and squares virtually empty due to social distancing measures.  With its first novel coronavirus infection on February 27, Denmark was one of the first European countries to introduce community quarantine measures.  

It is difficult to comprehend the immensity of Greenland, the massive Danish controlled island in the North Atlantic Ocean.  Covering a massive land area of nearly 2.2 million square km (836k square mi), the world's largest island is more than double the size of the second largest (THE tropical island of New Guinea) and roughly 6x the land area of Germany.  Top contributor Daniel Kordan used a drone to create this stunning visual tour of the island, replete with giant icebergs and shimmering glaciers.
