2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 15

Check out this DVOW winning international travel reel by brand-new AirVuz contributor Lancelot.Tintignies. Shot over the course of a year, the video features footage from France, Iceland, Faroe Island, Brazil, Hong Kong and Australia.  Some of the highlights include the famous Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik (Iceland) at the :23 mark, a great sequence of top-down shots starting at :38; some shots of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris starting at 1:04, a nighttime view of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor (1:20), and more.

Top AirVuz contributor and drone operator DroneProduction.ru (along with the help of drone pilot Alexander Malkov) brings us this DVOW nominated aerial tour of Krasnaya Polyana Ski Resort, one of Russia's most famous ski destinations.  It's located on the western slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in the southern province of Krasnodar Krai.  Situated about 50 km (30 mi.) east of Sochi, the resort hosted the alpine skiing events for the 2014 Winter Olympics.  Its slopes feature a total vertical drop of 1.76k meters or about 5.8k ft.  

Drone pilot Face du Monde brings us this magnificent video production from the West African country of Gabon. This video uses drone footage to pay tribute to the American environmental scientist J. Michael Fay and the Spanish-born National Geographic "explorer in residence" Eric Sala, who spent extensive time exploring Gabon's fragile eco-systems and were credited with helping this stunningly bio-diverse country establish its national park system as well as its extensive system of oceanic reserves. This video earned a nomination for the landscape category at the NYCDFF.

Award-winning AirVuz contributor and pilot Bachir_Photo_Phactory created this stunning yet haunting drone video from Dubai in a state of near-total lockdown during the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic in the Spring of 2020.   While the United Arab Emirates didn't report its first 100 confirmed infection cases until the second week of March, by the month's last week the country's citizens had been advised to remain home and forego all non-essential travel to help contain the spread of the virus.  

Montenegro's Bay of Kotor, also known as Boka Bay, is one of the largest inlets of the Adriatic Sea.  It's actually a system of connected bays, the mouth of which is at the country's northern boundary with Croatia.  With its protected waters, and ringed by towns and other cultural landmarks, the bay has become one of the top sailing destinations in the Mediterranean region.  Check out the Bay of Kotor sailing scene from above in this DVOW nominated film from top contributor Beautiful Montenegro.
