Top Bird's Eye Views of Central America

Explore the Central American country of Panama by drone in this DVOW nominated film by contributor djrialdo.  The fast-paced piece opens with a shot flying over a large boat, before cutting to views around the Panama Canal, the waterway which bisects the country and connects the Pacific Ocean with the Caribbean Sea.   The reel also features some excellent action footage, with shots ranging from fast-moving speedboats to fireworks to mountain hikers. You'll also see some great views of the country's coastline as well as its namesake capital city.

Contributor Upperview Productions took a month to travel through the Central American nations of Costa Rica and Nicaragua.  The former is a well-established destination while the latter is catching up.  Using a DJI Phantom drone and a ground camera, he created this stunning memory of the trip.  You will not fail to be impressed by the amazing aerial views of outdoor activities like surfing, horseback riding, ziplines, and excursions to the region's many volcanoes and waterfalls. 

The Mayan people, indigenous to the land stretching across parts of Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula portion of Mexico, were known for their sophisticated perspectives on science, engineering, and the arts.  Contributor and drone pilot Dronebros spent two years traveling the Mayan lands and created this video.  His work earned nominations for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week and Drone Video of the Month, and was the Winner for the 2nd Annual Drone Video Awards' People & Lifestyle category. 

Guatemala is the largest country in Central America, with a population (estimated at over 17 million as of 2019) close to double that of Honduras, the next largest country in the region.  Guatemala shares a long border with Mexico and has coasts along both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea.  Guatemala was the center of the ancient Mayan civilization which also covered much of the nearby Yucatan Peninsula.  Contributor Zaparoli used his drone to create this stunning aerial tour of this fascinating country. 

The traveling duo known as the DigitalTravelCouple is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community.  In this amazing video, they highlight the beauty of Costa Rica, the small Central American country which has become one of the most popular eco-tourism destinations.  The video opens with shots of the country's coastline, followed by a transition to its mountainous interior.  Shot with both drone and ground camera footage, the video will take you over rushing waterfalls, thick rainforests, and more.

Edited in his custom, narrative format, this incredible piece by Drone Video Award finalist and drone pilot Marco G.Lerin is one to remember. Shot in the rainforests of the Central American nation of Costa Rica, he takes a unique spin on real estate shooting. You almost don’t realize that is what you’re watching because the shots are so cinematic, the narration so compelling, and the locations so varied. This 4K film was selected as a Drone Video of the Week nominee in April of 2019.

Content creator and drone pilot DuarteDellarole created this remarkable promotional video showing the Central American country of Belize.  He uses a combination of drone, ground, and underwater cameras to capture the distinct vibe of this beautiful country, which borders both Guatemala to the west and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico to the north.  Watch it and you'll see why the country has become one of the up and coming destinations of Central America and in fact the entire Caribbean region.  

Check out this drone video of a famous Central American volcano, compliments of top contributor semberadventure.  Guatemala's Volcán de Fuego is located about 16 km (around 10 mi.) west of the city of Antigua.  The mountain is in a near-constant state of low-level activity, and is considered to be at risk for catastrophic eruption given the large population of the area.  The video was shot from the perspective of the adjacent Acatanengo volcano, which has a peak elevation of almost 4k meters above sea level (just over 13k ft.).   

In this video, top contributor Wrenee, aka the Queen of the Dronie, takes her act to the massive Lake Nicaragua in the country of the same name in Central America.  Shooting from a kayak in the massive body of water, she uses her trademark pullout shot to film the lake (which is the 19th largest lake in the world by surface area) and the massive volcano behind it. Scenes like this are causing Nicaragua to follow the path originally set by Costa Rica to become a top travel destination.  

Costa Rica's numerous volcanoes and extensive rainforests combined to create a third natural phenomenon - beautiful gushing waterfalls.  The western half of this Central American  country, inland from its Pacific Ocean coast, is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.    Impressively, top contributor and former DVOW winner Msmember was able to visit eight of these marvels in a 24 hour period, drone in hand.  As you'll see from his video, the bird's eye views are spectacular.    

Ambergris Caye is one of the largest and least well known islands of the western Caribbean.  It sits off the coast of northeastern Belize, just below on add-shaped southern extension of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.  Its primary settlement is the town of San Pedro, near its southern tip.  On a scuba diving trip, contributor Jeven Dovey used his DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this unforgettable aerial portrait of this Central American paradise, which has become a world-class scuba diving destination. 

Contributor and Drone Video of the Week winner Msember, who was featured on an episode of Drone Dish, created this marvelous video of the Bocas de Toro province of Panama.  This province is located in the northeastern corner of the country, bordering southeastern Costa Rica.  There is a mainland part of the province plus a group of nine islands offshore in the Caribbean Sea.  Msember's video shows us some of the epic sights of the island part of this province in the very heart of Central America. 

Contributor and pilot AshvilleAerial used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this beautiful aerial tour of Antigua, a beautiful colonial city in the Highlands of Guatemala.  The city was founded in the mid-16th century by the Spanish Conquistadoras, and was actually the third capital city of what became known as the Kingdom of Guatemala.  Devastated by several earthquakes later in the 16th century, Antigua survived and became one of the most important centers of Spanish and Jesuit culture in Central America.

Panama's capital, Panama City, is a true cosmopolitan gem of Central America.  The city lies near the southern (Pacific) end of the Panama Canal.  Its electrifying urban center sits right along the water's edge with its impressive skyline providing a visual dynamism that are meant to be captured by drone.  Contributor martigen's aerial footage takes us over Panama City, sharing views of Panama's blend of the old and the new. This video was nominated for Drone Video of the Week in November, 2018.

Female pilot wrenee is known for her epic dronie locations - hence her nickname, "Queen of the Dronie". This video by the powerhouse pilot takes the cake with her smooth flying above the trees while she lies below on a thin bridge. Shot above the Tenorio Volcano National Park in the Central American nation of Costa Rica, this video is a wonderful example of how to take the perfect top-down dronie. "Rio Celeste, Costa Rica Dronie" was nominated as a Finalist in the Dronie category for the second annual AirVuz Drone Video Awards. 

Contributor Fotovideorestudiosv created this magnificent aerial video of a beautiful Pacific Ocean beach in El Salvador.  The Central American country was torn apart by a brutal civil war which began in the 1970's and delayed its discovery by tourists.  Fortunately, the country has returned to political stability, and tourists are beginning to discover the charm of its pristine beaches.  El Zonte lies along this developing line of beach communities, about an hour's drive from the capital San Salvador.    

Check out this amazing drone video of a small but ecologically important island of Panama in Central America, which won Drone Video of the Week in March 2019.  Isla Escudo de Veraguas lies off of Panama's eastern (Caribbean) coastline, in the Golfo de los Mosquitos.  Only a little over 4 square km (about a square mile), the tiny island is the only known remaining natural habitat of a rare fruit bat called Thomas's fruit-eating bat and an equally rare Pygmy three-toed sloth.   Both species are considered to be critically endangered.  

Contributor and pilot Fotovideorestudiosv created this drone video of San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador in Central America.  The city was originally built by 16th century Spanish conquerors more or less on top of a native town which had stood there, but was shortly thereafter relocated southward to its present location in  Boquerón Volcano Valley.  It's one of the most seismic areas on earth, and the city has survived numerous earthquakes and eruptions from the nearby volcanoes.

Top AirVuz contributor semberadventure had a mission: to not only visit eight of Costa Rica’s most beautiful waterfalls in 24 hours, but to take drone footage of them as well. As you’ll see in this video, he accomplished his mission and put together a pretty great drone video in the process.  With its mountainous interior, much of which is covered by rainforests, this small Central American country is home to some of the world's most beautiful waterfalls, in addition to its equally famous volcanoes.  

Canadian contributor Braybraywoowoo created this epic drone video of Panama's San Blas Islands.  The islands lay off the east (Caribbean) coast of this Central American country.  It's an archipelago of over 350 islands, only about 15% of which are inhabited.  The San Blas Islands are considered an important watchpoint in the process of global warming; due to their low, flat terrain they are highly vulnerable to changes in worldwide sea levels and will be at great risk if current worldwide temperature trends continue.

Check out this incredible reel from the Central American nation of Honduras, compliments of top contributor Skyfie.  The video features footage of the following locations: Roatán Bay Islands, which lie about 60 km (around 35 mi.) off the country's Caribbean shoreline; Lake Yojoa, the country's largest lake, which lies in the western part of the country; the Pacific coastal town of Coyolito El Sur; the colonial town of Gracias Lempira in western Honduras; Útila Island; and the southern town of Santa Lucía.

Top AirVuz contributor and Drone Video of the Week Winner msember brings us this marvelous aerial tour of the Coclé Province of Panama.  One of the ten provinces of this Central American country, Coclé is situated near the middle of the country.  It has a coastline along the Pacific Ocean, with most of the province's roughly 5k square km of land area (around 2k square mi.) consisting of mountainous interior jungle.  The video features excellent footage of the inactive El Valle volcano as well as some spectacular nearby waterfalls.  

Seven countries make up the Central America region that connects North and South America: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, . This thin strip of land between the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea provides endless adventure opportunities - view it from above by virtually traveling to some of the hottest destinations in Central America through this drone video compilation.  Note that AirVuz maintains a curated collection for each of the individual countries of the region. 

AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Matt Dahlberg brings us this fantastic drone video of a famous volcano in Guatemala.  Pacaya is part of the Central American Volcanic Belt.  Its caldera was formed in an eruption which occurred about 23,000 years ago, a blink of an eye in geological terms.  The volcano has been erupting more or less continuously since 1961, following about seven decades of dormancy.  It rises to a height of just under 8.4k ft., or about 2.6k m.  Pacaya is less than an hour's drive southwest of Guatemala City.
