Check out these spectacular drone views of the Bavarian Alps, compliments of AirVuz contributor Karem Hajoj.  A Drone Video of the Week Finalist in August of 2024, the video was filmed with the DJI Air 3 drone, which weighs about a pound (.5 kg) and is perfect for mountain treks.  Part of the Northern Limestone Alps, the Bavarian Alps cover much of Germany's southernmost state (as well as parts of adjacent Austria) and which have peaks ranging up to about 9.7k ft. in altitude (just under 3k m) above sea level.

Check out this amazing and very professional demo reel from top contributor vierafly.  Most of the footage was shot over different spots in Northern Germany.  It includes a mix of footage of a number of corporate sites, some shots of the great plains which cover much of the region, the Baltic Sea coast, and some shots of the region's cities and cultural landmarks.  Highlights include a shot of Leipzig's Battle of Nations Monument and some great shots of the City-Hochhaus, Leipzig's landmark skyscraper.

The German capital Berlin was arguably the most important city in the world in the 20th century.  It was the capital of Germany when the country plunged into World Wars I-II, and was considered (in divided form) the most likely flash point for a World War III which (fortunately) did not occur.  Berlin is now the capital of a country which is one of the pillars of international peace and stability.  Here is a magnificent aerial tour of the great city on the Elbe, complements of New Entertainment Pictures.

Check out this magnificent drone video of Dresden, Germany, compliments of New Entertainment Pictures.  The capital of the northern state of Saxony, Dresden is built on the banks of the Elbe River.  The video opens with shots of the city's Frauenkirche and Opera House, followed by the Zwinger Palace and the Hofkirche (Cathedral).  Dresden was heavily damaged near the end of World War II during a still-controversial bombing raid which killed thousands and was later immortalized in Kurt Vonnegut's classic 1969 novel, Slaughterhouse-Five.

AirVuz contributor kevinmichaeltravel brings us this excellent drone video from the municipality of Schwangau at the southern tip of Germany.  Set in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, Schwangau is home to two of Germany's most famous castles, both of which feature prominently in the video.  The first, Hohenschwangau Castle, was built in the 1830's by the Bavarian King Maximilian II.  The second, even more famous, is Neuschwanstein Castle.  It was completed in 1882 for Maximilian's son Ludwig II, in honor of the composer Richard Wagner.

Behold this amazing aerial video of Neuschwanstein, one of the world's most famous castles.  This Romanesque Revival masterpiece was completed in 1886 as a retreat for the then-King of Bavaria, a kingdom which had recently become part of the German Empire.  Famously, the castle inspired the Sleeping Beauty castles at the Disney theme parks.  It's also served as a shooting location for numerous feature movies, notably as Baron Bomburst's castle in the 1968 hit musical comedy Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

While the southern state of Bavaria is home to Germany's highest peaks, there are smaller mountain ranges in other parts of the country.  One of these is the Taunus range, which runs through the state of Hesse in west-central Germany.  Großer Feldberg is the highest peak in the range, with an altitude of about 880 meters above sea level (around 2.9k ft.).  Top contributor and pilot Haussmannvisuals brings us this beautiful video of this graceful mountain, shot on a beautiful winter morning.

Bavaria is the largest state in Germany, occupying most of the southern part of the country.  It's the largest of the German states by land area and second largest in population.  In terms of physical scenery, most would agree that Bavaria has the most spectacular in the country.  In this amazing video, top contributor Vitali flies a drone over Bavaria, affording us amazing aerial views of the Bavarian Alps, mountain valleys, shimmering alpine lakes, and the glorious city of Munich, Bavaria's largest.

The port city of Hamburg in northern Germany is one of the keys to the country's export-oriented economy.  The city is home to the largest German seaport and the second largest port in the entire European Union after Rotterdam.  Lying on a river about 110 km (around 70 mi) upstream from the North Sea, the city is the core of a metropolitan area of about 5 million, the second largest in Germany after Berlin.  New Entertainment Pictures created this magnificent drone video of the great city on the River Elbe.

Algau is a region of Swabia in the far south of Bavaria, Germany, near the border with Austria.  Located just east of Lake Constance, its landscape transitions from the foothills of the Alps to the great range itself.   It is a place of stunning snow covered mountain peaks, alpine lakes, and fairy tale forests.  Top contributor and drone pilot Eye-Catchography flew a drone over the area just as winter was ebbing and spring was beginning to bloom.  The aerial video, captured at the most beautiful time of year, is simply breathtaking.

Cochem Castle, built in the 12th century, lies on the Moselle River in the Rhineland area of western Germany.  It is cradled on a hilltop that offers panoramic views of Cochem village and the surrounding landscape of Rhineland-Palatinate, one of Western Germany's most important states.  Contributor Stefan Beumer flew his drone over the castle and the village, creating this spectacular aerial view of the magnificent landmark, which was destroyed in the 17th century and rebuilt in the 19th.

Get an aerial mini-tour of the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, compliments of brand-new contributor SK DroneFilms.  Formerly part of the (Communist) German Democratic Republic, Mecklenburg Vorpommern is the least densely populated of Germany's 16 states.   Its territory includes 2k km (around 1.2k mi.) of Baltic Sea coastline (including a number of islands) as well as a dense network of lakes in the interior.  Among other spots, the video features footage of the municipalities of Röbel, Klink, and Niederfinow.

Top AirVuz contributor Mattcoq created this stunning drone view of Germany's Lichtenstein and Hohenzellorn Castles, two of Europe's most famous Gothic Revival landmarks.  Both are situated in the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg, and were built on the site of earlier structures.  Completed in 1842, Lichtenstein Castle was built for Wilhelm, Duke of Urach, a local nobleman.  Hohenzollern Castle was completed in 1867.  It was the ancestral seat of the Hohenzollern family, which ruled Prussia and then all of Germany until 1918.

Wendelstein is a medium-sized mountain peak in Bavaria, the southernmost state of Germany.  It is part of the Mangfall Mountains, a foothill sub-range the Alps Mountain system.  The mountain's peak is about 1.8k meters (just over 6k ft.) above sea level.  While not the largest ski area in Germany, Wendelstein does have one area for highly experienced skiers.  Contributor On Focus used a DJI Phantom drone to give us a beautiful aerial tour of this alpine paradise, located about 90 minutes from Munich.

Regensburg is the fourth largest city in Bavaria, Germany's southernmost state.  It's most prominent landmark is the Regensburg Cathedral, a 16th century structure in the old city center on the Danube River.  The cathedral escaped serious damage from a famous (and ultimately unsuccessful) Allied strategic bombing raid on Regensburg's aircraft factory in August, 1943, during the height of World War II.   Contributor Minglam created this amazing drone video of the architectural marvel.

Using a DJI Phantom 3 Pro drone, Oggy created this beautiful aerial video of Duisburg and Oberhausen, two important cities of Germany's state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous in the federation and the heart of the so-called Rhineland region.  Duisberg is Germany's 15th largest city.  It lies at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers in the industrial heartland of the country.  Oberhausen, the smaller of the two cities, is situated a bit to the northeast, roughly equidistant from Duisenberg and Essen.

The area around Lake Königsee, Germany's deepest and cleanest lake, provides a variety of recreational entertainment for tourists, including hiking, swimming, boating, and even enjoying the echo demonstrations against the rocky mountain walls.  Videographer Javi Mora captured his own exciting hike up the trails with his drone and used the footage to create this phenomenally edited video, which shows off the charming colors of the region and was nominated for Drone Video of the Week.

The area around Dreseden, Germany is home to a trio of famous castles called the Elbschlösser.  They lie along the banks of the Elbe River just upstream from the city, which is the capital of the state of Saxony.  The three castles are Castle Albrechtsberg, Lingner Castle (Villa Stockhausen) and Castle Eckberg.  All three were constructed in the period of 1850-1861.  The complex is part of a single UNESCO World Heritage site.  Check them out in this beautiful drone video by Mischa Haubold.

Content creator and pilot FreakinTim created this amazing drone video of one of the most important sites of German industrial history.  The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex is near Essen, Germany, in the heart of the country's Rhineland region.  The plant shown in the video turned coal from the nearby coal mine to coke, a critical ingredient for integrated  steel manufacturing.  At one point, it was the largest coking operation in the world, and was a vital component of Germany's steelmaking industry.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner dronasantana007 brings us this stunning drone video of Heidelberg, one of the most important cities in southwestern Germany.  It's situated on the Neckar River (a major Rhine tributary) in the state of Baden-Württemberg.  It is a university town, known as the home of Heidelberg University - the oldest in Germany and one of the oldest in the world.  It's also home to the ruins of Heidelberg Castle, considered one of the great Renaissance structures, which is prominently featured in the video.

Cyber_drone used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this beautiful aerial of Lake Constance in Central Europe. The lake, which is part of the Rhine River, sits in Germany (Bavaria), Austria, and Switzerland.  With a surface area of about 535 square km (just over 200 square mi.), it's one of the largest lakes in Europe.  It's also one of the deepest, with a maximum depth of 90 meters (around 300 ft.).  It's also one of the world's greatest boating lakes, with over 50k watercraft registered as of 2018.

AirVuz contributor gadour23 brings us this fantastic drone video of the city of Bonn, Germany.  Situated on the Rhine River in the state of North Rhine Westphalia, Bonn is the southernmost city of the Rhine-Ruhr industrial region.  The birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, Bonn served as the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany during the decades when the country was divided in two following World War II.  The video features excellent footage of the giant yellow Electoral Palace, the main building of the University of Bonn.

Contributor and pilot Koorosh used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this spectacular aerial video of one of the most impressive rock formations in Germany.  The Bastei is situated in the state of Saxony in what had been East Germany prior to German reunification in 1989.  The tops of the rocks are almost 200 meters (over 650 ft.) above the Elbe River, in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.  The Bastei are one of the major outdoor tourist attractions in eastern Germany, easily accessible from nearby Dresden.

Check out these magnificent springtime aerial views of Germany's Elbe Valley, compliments of AirVuz contributor Mischa Haubold.  Shot in the glorious springtime, the valley covers a roughly 20 km (about 12 mi.) stretch of Northern Germany's most important river from Dresden to Meissen in the state of Saxony.  The Elbe Valley was the heart of the old Kingdom of Saxony, which was an important state within the Holy Roman Emperor and was absorbed by Prussia in the mid-19th century, shortly before the creation of the modern nation-state of Germany.

AirVuz contributor and pilot seb-depp brings us this excellent drone video of a pair of castles in the heart of Germany.  The first, Ludwigstein Castle, is situated overlooking the Werra River in the northern part of the state of Hesse.  The original structure dates to the early 15th century, although it was subsequently modified significantly.  The second, Hanstein Castle, is also located a on the Werra, a bit downriver (north) in the neighboring state of Thuringia.  It dates to the early 14th century.
