Drone's Eye Views of Poland

Top contributor cine_ghost brings us this excellent 2023 drone reel.  Highlights include some amazing shots from across his native Poland, including the Baltic Sea, the Carpathian Mountains, and the beautiful lakes and plains which cover the central part of Poland.  At the :17 mark, there's a great shot of a twisting mountain pass road.  Just before the :50 mark, there's a dramatic shot of the skyline of Warsaw, followed by a great shot of a high speed train running through a field.  The reel concludes with an epic bike jumping shot.

Here is an amazing demo reel from one of the top commercial drone piloting and video production companies in Poland.  Volatus Media's compilation demonstrates the range of the services they provide, which includes some of the most difficult to film action shots.  Their work also shows off the beauty of this Central European country.  It features footage of the capital city Warsaw on the Vistula River, the beautiful Masurian Lakes District, medieval castles, the plains of Pomerania, and more. 

This drone video by Passenger 21B alternates between aerial views of rural and urban Poland.  The video opens with some excellent shots from the farmlands of the East European Plain, which covers much of the country.  One of Europe's least densely populated countries, Poland still has an eighth of its workforce engaged in agriculture - roughly double the average for the European Union.  The video's urban views come from the town of Elblag, a historic city of about 120k population which lies just south of the Vistula Lagoon.  

The literally glowing beauty of Poland's capital Warsaw in the evening hours is showcased brilliantly by content creator and drone pilot Damian, earning him a Drone Video of the Week nomination for this video. The city, once known as the "Paris of the East", literally rose from the ashes after being nearly destroyed in World War II.  Today, the city on the Vistula has seen much of its Old City restored to pre-war condition and has sprouted a thoroughly modern skyline alongside its historical core.  

Check out this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone reel from Poland by top AirVuz contributor Harrson.  In just the first ten seconds, you'll chase another quad over a field of grain, fly by a medieval Polish town, circle a tightrope walker, and skim a ridge somewhere in the mountains of southern Poland.  Further on in the video, you'll be treated to some outstanding shots of the city of Wrocław (Poland's third-largest city); see some excellent chase scenes involving go-karts, drift cars, and bmx bikes; and more.   

Krakow is Poland's "second city" after Warsaw.  It's situated in southern Poland, at the base of the Carpathian Mountains.  Having survived World War II with less physical damage than Warsaw, it is arguably the most important cultural and historical city in the country.  AirVuz star contributor iDrone Aerials used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to take us on an incredible aerial tour of this ancient city.  The Old Town of Krakow, shown in the video, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site.  

Check out these magnificent drone views of the mountains of southern Poland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot JanuszKurek.  The Tatra Mountains represent the natural boundary between Poland and Slovakia.  A subchain of the Carpathian Mountains, the Tatra's are home to some of Poland's finest natural scenery.  The video features footage of the peak known as Mnih (the Monk), Szpiglasowa Przełęcz, Szpiglasowy Wierch, Dolina 5 Stawów Polskich (The Valley of Five Polish Lakes), and Kasprowy Wierch.

The Central European nation of Poland has a long Baltic Sea coast, which includes seaport city of Gdansk, Poland's fourth largest.  Parts of the coastline are much less densely inhabited and include spits or sand dune islands which run parallel to the mainland for great distances.  Contributor XL Creations traveled along the Polish Baltic Sea coast with his DJI Inspire 1 drone and caught these amazing aerial views of some of the coastline's most beautiful spots around Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot, and Hel. 

Situated in the center of Poland, Łódź is the country's third-largest city after Warsaw and Krakow.   It's the capital of its namesake Voivodeship (province).  The city was once home to one of the largest Jewish population centers in Europe, a community which was almost entirely destroyed in Nazi death camps during World War II.  In this video, content creator and drone pilot Smartfilms.pl uses a drone to give us an aerial view of a gigantic new construction effort remaking the center of this extraordinary Central European city.  

Former Drone Video of the Week winner PureCreations.pl brings us this fantastic drone video from the mountains of southern Poland.  The video was shot on a hauntingly foggy day over the Bieszczady Mountains, which cover a portion of the southeastern part of the country as well as adjacent areas of Slovakia and Ukraine.  These mountains form part of the Outer Eastern Carpathians.  The highest peak of the Bieszczady Mountains on the Polish side is Mt. Tarnica, which has a peak elevation of 1.35k meters above sea level (just over 4.4k ft.).  

Brand-new AirVuz contributor Flying_Artcraft brings us this excellent drone video of the Polish port city of Gdynia.  Located on the Bay of Gdansk (an inlet of the Baltic Sea), it's the second largest city in the Pomerania region after Gdansk, which lies to its south.  Gdynia is a significant leisure travel destination and an important port for cruise ships plying the waters of the Baltic.   Shot just before the onset of summer, the video features footage of the city as well as some of its surrounding Baltic Sea coastline.  

Gdansk, once part of Germany and known as Danzig, is Poland's most important seaport and its fourth largest city.  Situated on the country's northern (Baltic Sea) coastline, Gdansk was the site of the Solidarity Movement, which brought on martial law in Poland in 1979 but was ultimately responsible for the fall of the Berlin Wall ten years later.  Contributor Castenoid brought a drone on a family trip, and the video he created gives a marvelous aerial view of this amazing city, now one of Poland's top tourist destinations.

While Poland has become much more heavily urbanized, until recently it was far more of a rural society compared to countries like Germany and France.  This video by contributor and pilot PASSENGER 21B is a compilation of drone footage from the north-south length of the country, and it provides a good glimpse of the rural Poland that still exists far from its metropolitan centers.  It's a land of small towns, fields, forests, and lakes, and is a beautiful sight to behold from an aerial perspective. 

Dunajec Castle, also known as Niedzica Castle, sits at the very southern edge of Poland near the foothills of the Carpathians.  Built in the 14th century, it is one of the most well known castles in the country.  Ownership of the castle changed several times over the centuries between Polish and Hungarian owners.  In this video, contributor Dronujemy flies a DJI Phantom over the castle, giving us a bird's eye view of this amazing structure.  The castle lies in the province of Lesser Poland (Małopolska).

If you move inward from the Baltic Sea in northeastern Poland, what you'll encounter is a world of lakes, forests, and canals.  The Masurian Lakes district is one of Europe's best spots for activities like kayaking, canoeing, and sailing, where travelers can access hundreds of lakes, dotted across vast forests, with many lakes connected by canal.  In this video, contributor Splendid Films uses ground camera and drone footage to show you what this famed district has to offer for outdoors enthusiasts.

Mark's Mavic 2 used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to shoot this video of the famous Malbork Castle in Poland.  It's located in the northern part of the country, not far from the coastline on the Baltic Sea.  Built by the Teutonic Knights in the 15th century, Malbork Castle served as a Polish royal residence until the country was partitioned out of existence in the late 18th century.  This magnificent landmark is believed to be the world's largest castle by area, and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  

Contributor and pilot Splendid Films used a drone to give us a bird's eye view of one of the more notable geographic features of the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe.  Hel is an narrow sand bar which juts out about 35 km (20 mi) in a southeastern direction from Puck County to the town of Puck at the tip.  Due to its military significance, Hel heavily fortified by Germany during its Polish occupation in World War II, and the troops stationed there were amongst the last to surrender, several days after VE Day.

Check out this drone video of the city of Wroclaw, Poland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Pikol1979.  The thousand year old city is situated on the banks of the Oder River, Wroclaw is the capital of the voivodeship (province) of Lower Silesia, in the southwestern part of the country.  The video features footage of the city's Market Square (Rynek), the Fabryczna borough on the western side of the city, the Szczepin neighborhood, the cable-stayed Redzinski Bridge, Municipal Stadium, and more.  

Poland's capital Warsaw is one of the world's most fascinating cities.  Once known as the Paris of the East for its beauty, Warsaw was nearly destroyed in World War II, with large sections leveled including its famed Old City.  Much of the damage was repaired during the Cold War era, and since the fall of the Berlin Wall, a very modern city has emerged on the Vistula River.  As you will see in this amazing drone video by contributor and pilot KG Airview, Warsaw seamlessly blends elements of the old and the new.

Southern Poland is mountainous, covered by a series of different ranges. Towards the eastern end is the Pieniny range, a sub-chain of the Carpathian Mountains.  In this region, you'll find a land of green rolling mountains, the magnificent Dunajec River,  and medieval landmarks like Niedzica Castle which overlooks Czorsztyn Lake.  Contributor Droneujemy used a DJI drone to create an amazing aerial tour of this spectacular region, which contrasts sharply with the plains of central and northern Poland.

If you want to see one of the world's most well known lakes district looks like in the dead of winter, check out this drone video by contributor and pilot Lukasbudzinski.  He flew a drone over Giżycko, a small town in the northeastern part of Poland known as the Masurian Lakes District.  Once the home of outposts of the Teutonic Knights military order, the town is now a popular tourist destination in the summer.  As you'll see in this video, the area's lakes become a frozen playground for all sorts of winter activities.  

The landscape of Poland's long southern border region varies along its length but it's mostly hilly-to-mountainous, covered by parts of several different ranges of mountains and foothills.  In this drone video by contributor and pilot Ludoweet, you'll get a bird's eye view of the westernmost part of this border, in Karkonosze National Park.  Here is a beautiful landscape which features the tallest points of the Sudetes, a range which covers parts of Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic.  

Contributor and drone pilot Passenger21 created this beautiful aerial video of two towns in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (province) of northern Poland.  Fromborg is a small town on the Vistula Lagoon, a lagoon on the Baltic Sea which is demarcated by the Vistula Spit.  Elblag is a considerably larger town, with a population of over 120,000.  It lies on the Elblag River, which flows into the Vistula Lagoon.  Elblag is one of the oldest cities in northern Poland, and was a member of the Hanseatic League.  

Poland was the scene of some of the worst violence of World War II, seeing about 25% of its population killed.  Some of the most concentrated and horrific violence occurred at the Auschwitz concentration/death camp in Galicia in southern Poland, where over a million holocaust victims perished.  Contributor Blagoy Momchoy flew a drone over the camp complex, creating an deeply moving aerial view of this important historical site, which was abandoned in early 1945 before being overrun by the Red Army.  

Contributor FLYRES4K POLAND created this amazing drone video of a little-known but important historical site in Stępina in southern Poland.  The Anlage Süd was a system of two underground rail tunnels built by Nazi Germany during its occupation of Poland in World War II.  In August, 1941, Adolph Hitler and the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini met here to discuss the progress of Operation Barbarossa, the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union, which was just then reaching a critical point. 

If you watch this drone video by AirVuz contributor PureCreations.pl without reading anything about it, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is the French Alps or perhaps the Spanish Pyrenees.  In fact, this scene is from the mountains of southern Poland.  The video was filmed near the village of Jurgów, which lies in the Tatras Mountains.  The mountains form the natural boundary between Poland and its southern neighbor Slovakia.  They are home to the highest peaks of the great Carpathian Mountain range, of which they form part.

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner PureCreations.pl brings us this beautiful sunset drone video of the city of Katowice, Poland.  Located in the southern region of Silesia, has a population of about 300k in 2021, making it Poland's 11th largest city.  However, Katowice is the center of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Area, which is actually the country's largest urban agglomeration.  An important industrial center, Katowice came to prominence with the discovery of large coal deposits in Silesia in the 19th century .  

Check out this drone video of Toruń, an important city in the north-central part of Poland, compliments of contributor Johny Kondakjian Photography.  The city is situated on the province of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, the heart of the historical region of Pomerania.  It's situated on the Vistula River, Poland's most important waterway.  Toruń is one of the oldest cities in Poland, with roots to the 8th century.  It is also considered one of the most beautiful, both for its river setting as well as its architecture.   

Content creator and pilot Lemelpictures used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this stunning video of a rural area of northwestern Poland in the Fall season.  The area is the Pomeranian Voivodeship (province) west of Gdansk, the provincial capital.  It's the heart of the historical region of Pomerania, which covers most of northwestern Poland and a part of northeastern Germany.  The area anchors the eastern end of the great North European Plain, which runs across the northern part of the continent.

Check out this beautiful drone video of one of the most famous castles in Poland, compliments of contributor Mawefo.  Moszna Castle is located near an eponymously named village in the southwestern part of the country.  The area is part of a historical region called Upper Silesia, which covers parts of modern-day Poland and a corner of the Czech Republic.  Moszna Castle is a Baroque design which dates to the 17th century.  Partially destroyed by fire in 1896, it was largely restored to its original state.

Check out this stunning drone videos of a mountainous area in southeastern Poland, compliments of contributor and pilot Greenlife.  The Low Beskids (Polish: Beskid Niski) is a small mountain range in the southeastern part of the country.  It's considered to be part of the Eastern Carpathian range, which covers much of southern Poland and eastern Slovakia.  The highest peak in the range in the range is Mt. Busov, in Slovakia; its peak elevation is about 1k meters above sea level (around 3.3k ft.).

Contributor MichaelDrone created this beautiful drone video of a historical town in southeastern Poland called Zamość.  It's situated in the Lublin Voivodeship, one of the country's 16 provinces.  Founded in the late 16th century along a key trade route which connected the northern part of Europe to the Black Sea region, it's considered one of the best-preserved Renaissance towns in Central Europe.  Much of the old town was designed by a famous Venetian architect named Bernardo Morando.

Contributor and pilot johny kondakjian photography created this beautiful drone video of a town in the mountains of southern Poland called Zakopane.  It lies in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, near the country's southern border with Slovakia.  The town is situated in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountain.  Once a mining town, since the early 20th century Zakopane has been the country's most prominent destination for winter sports activities and is sometimes called Poland's Winter Capital. 

Contributor Bombel2424 created this drone video of Plock, a very old city in the heart of Poland.  It sits on the Vistula River, the country's most important waterway, in the Masovian Voivodeship, which covers much of east-central Poland.  In the 11th and 12th centuries, Plock was actually the capital of the proto-Polish nation.  It suffered heavily during the Swedish-Polish conflicts of the late 1600's and spent over a century under Russian control after Poland was partitioned out of existence in the late 18th century.  

Pomerania is a historical region of Central Europe.  It has a northern boundary along the Baltic Sea coastlines of Germany and Poland, and extends some ways south on the great Northern European Plain.  In this drone video by JanuszKurek, you'll get a nice aerial view of the Pomeranian countryside near the Polish village of Sitno.  This is Kartuzy County, which is part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.  It forms part of eastern Pomerania, which was historically part of Germany until World War II, following which it became part of Poland.

Check out this drone video of some of the beautiful landscapes of southern Poland, compliments of contributor SHIVAKASHI.  It was filmed near the village of Jugów, which is in Kłodzko County, the southernmost of Polish counties and part of the Lower Silesia region.  Like most of southern Poland, this region is mountainous; it's covered by various sub-ranges and foothills of the Carpathian Mountain system, which serves to divide Poland from the Czech Republic and (further east) Slovakia to the south.  

Check out this excellent drone video from southwestern Poland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Pikol1979.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone during the winter, the video as filmed near the towns of Karkonosze Jakuszyce and Szklarska Poreba.  Set in the Sudeten Mountains, which form the natural border between Poland and the Czech Republic to its south, the area is part of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.  The stunning alpine environment makes this region one of the country's most popular for skiing and other outdoor activities.  

Check out this stunning 4k drone video of Poland's Masurian Lakes region, compliments of contributor AVEA - Alta Vista Epic Aerials.  Part of East Prussia (Germany) prior to World War II, the district is home to over 2,000 lakes.  Interspersed amidst vast forests, this region historically represented the frontier between Germany and Russia.  Here was fought the momentous Battle of Tannenberg in 1914 when a Russian field army was encircled by a smaller German force in the opening weeks of World War I.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot jerrysqrwiel brings us this excellent drone video of a provincial city in southern Poland during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020.  The city filmed is called Legnica, which is located on the Kaczawa River in the region of Lower Silesia.  In the nearly 1,000 years of its existence, the city probably never looked as empty as it did during this strange time, when social distancing measures imposed to combat the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus left it appearing virtually abandoned.  

The Vistula River is Poland's most important waterway.  Rising in the Carpathians and emptying into the Baltic Sea, it runs a bit over 1k km (around 650 mi.) on a generally northerly course that's entirely within Polish territory.  Passing through some of Poland's most important cities, it also has long stretches dotted with beautiful small, often historically important, towns.  In this drone video by artusam, you'll get an aerial view of one of them: Kazimierz Dolny, in the (southeastern) Lublin Voivodeship.  

In this drone video by contributor ra, you'll get an aerial view of two important cities in southern Poland.  The first, Kraków is by far the most important city in the region, and second only to Warsaw in all of Poland.  It's Old Town is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.  The rest of the video covers Zakopane, sometimes called Poland's Winter Recreation Capital.  It is situated a bit over 100 km (around 65 mi.) due south of the larger city, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains.  

Take in these drone views from the mountains of southwestern Poland, compliments of contributor Pikol1979.  He used a DJI Mavic Air 2s to film the Sudetes Mountains, which cover a part of the Lower Silesian region.  The mountains, which cover portions of the German state of Saxony and a part of the northern Czech Republic, form part of a larger formation known as the Bohemian Massif.  Separated from the Carpathian Mountains to the east by the Moravian Gate, the Sudetes reach altitudes of up to 5.25k ft. above sea level or around 1.6k m.  

Located in Rudno, Poland the Tenczyn Castle is a medieval castle that was built as the seat of the once powerful Tęczyński family. The great landmark was completed in the early 14th century in the Polish Gothic-Polish Mannerism style.  Destroyed in the mid-17th century, it was rebuilt then fell to ruin after a fire in the mid-18th century.  Open to the public, it remains in a ruined state. AVEA - Alta Vista Epic Aerials created this drone video of Grodziec Castle in the Silesia region of southwestern Poland, a famous landmark whose history reflects the region's tumultuous past.  The original Gothic structure was heavily damaged during the 15th century Hussite Wars and later rebuilt in an early Renaissance style.  It again became a casualty of military conflict when it was nearly ruined by Habsburg forces during the Thirty Years' War of the 1600s.  Partially restored, it was damaged again during WW II.

Check out these fantastic drone views of the mountains of southern Poland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot yoshi1989.  The video was filmed near the town of Solina in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, the southernmost province of the country.  Shot with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone, the video capture the beauty of the Bieszczady Mountains, which cover parts of southeastern Poland, northeastern Slovakia, and southwestern Ukraine.  The mountains form part of the Outer Easter Carpathian mountain range.  

Check out this excellent drone video of Poland's Czocha Castle, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Marek.  It's located on the shores of Lake Leśnia in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, a province which covers much of southwestern Poland.  The stone structure dates to the early 14th century.  Czocha Castle was successfully besieged during the Hussite Wars of the early 15th century; its walls were subsequently strengthened and it withstood a siege by Swedish forces during the Thirty Years' War roughly two centuries later.   

Here's a nice aerial view of the Polish port town of Kolobrzeg, compliments of AirVuz contributor Drone Eye Perspective.  Kołobrzeg is located on the Baltic Sea in the Voivodeship (province) of West Pomerania, which covers the northwest corner of the country.  The town was at one time a member of the powerful Hanseatic League of Baltic port cities, and later spent three centuries under Prussian and German rule.  It became part of reconstituted Poland after World War II, when the country's borders were shifted to the west.    

Poland's Masurian Lakes District is an area of forested lakes in the northeastern part of the country.  In this drone video by adrian/krupczynski, you'll get an aerial tour of a town at the heart of the famous resort region: Mikołajki.  Situated in Mrągowo County in the voivodeship (province) of Warmian-Masurian, the town has a full-time population of a bit under 4k.  It's located just to the northwest of Śniardwy, the largest lake in Poland, which covers an area of about 44 square mi. (around 114 square km).  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor flymorepro brings us this excellent wintertime drone video from Poland.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Air 2, the video was shot over the Muskau Arch Geopark, which straddles the German-Polish border.  A member of the UNESCO Global Geopark  Network, the Polish part of the park is part of the western voivodeship (province) of Lubusz.  In the Polish portion alone, there are nearly 1,000 flora species; over 40 species of amphibians, reptiles, and mammals; and nearly 150 species of birds. 

Take an aerial tour of the historic city of Poznań, Poland with this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor Zoya.  Poznań is one of Poland's five largest cities as well as one of its oldest.  The video opens with shots of the twin towers of Poznań Cathedral, which dates to the 10th century.  At the :30 mark, there's a nice shot of the Warta River, which runs through the center of the city.  At :50, you'll get a great view of the Poznań Town Hall, in the heart of the city's Old Town, and at 2:30 you'll see the city's opera house.  

First-time visitors to southern Poland are often amazed at the contrast with the northern and central part of the country, most of which lies on the Northern and Eastern European Plains.  Southern Poland's landscape is markedly different: it's a mountainous land, covered by the various subchains and foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.  In this drone video by new AirVuz contributor walking man, you'll get an aerial view of the "other Poland".  It was filmed in the Żywiec Beskids, part of the Outer Western Carpathian Mountains.

Check out this beautiful drone video from the lakes of Polish Pomerania, compliments of contributor and pilot lemelpictures.  Pomerania is a historical region of northern Europe which runs along the Baltic Sea and extends some ways inland (south).  Since World War II, it's been split between Poland and Germany.  Much of its interior land area is covered by beautiful lakes and forests.  Less well known than Poland's Masurian Lakes area to the east, it's home to some of the finest fishing lakes in Europe.  

Check out this fantastic 2021 first person view (FPV) drone reel from western Poland.  The video was filmed in and around the city of Szczecin in the voivodeship (province) of West Pomeranian, which covers the northwestern part of the country.  The video features some great shots from the city itself, which is one of Poland's most important seaports.  You'll also see some great shots from the lakes and forests which surround the city, indoor shots, incredible chase sequences involving powered paragliders and speedboats, and more.  

Check out this cinematic aerial view of a well-known ruined castle in the Silesia region of southern Poland.  It's called Olsztyn Castle, and it's in an area known as the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland (also known as the Polish Jurassic Highland). Splendid Films, got drone shots of this medieval castle that is one of the main attractions on the Trail of the Eagle's Nests, a line of 25 castles and fortifications built in the Middle Ages to protect Polish lands from incursions from Bohemia to the south.  

Contributor OMJ FPV created this beautiful drone video of Pieskowa Skała, one of the most well known castles in southern Poland.  It's situated in Ojców National Park in the Pradnik River valley, a bit north of Krakow.  Originally built in the 14th century, it was rebuilt in the current Renaissance style in the 16th.  It subsequently underwent a series of ownership changes before coming into the hands of a historical society in the early 20th century.  It was subsequently donated to the Polish state and restored.  

Check out this excellent drone video of Poland's Gołuchów Castle, compliments of contributor wktorastrone.pl.  Built in the first half of the 16th century, this landmark is located in its namesake town in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, one of the main provinces of central Poland.  Originally built in the Early Renaissance architectural style, the castle was substantially refurbuished in the 19th century in the French Renaissance style it takes today.  The castle itself is surrounded by one of the largest landscape parks in the region.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Adrian Krupczynski brings us this excellent drone video of a historic town in western Poland.  Rogoźno is located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, less than an hour's drive from the provincial capital, Poznań.  The town was given its charter in the late 13th century.  It was part of Prussia, and later Germany, following the Partition of Poland in the late 18th century; following World War II, it became part of Poland again as the country's borders were shifted to the west following that conflict.  

Former Drone Video of the Month Winner rememorales brings us this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone tour of the city of Kraków, Poland.  The video was filmed flying over the Old City (the very first UNESCO World Heritage site) as well as in the surrounding hills in the voivodeship (province) of Lesser Poland in the southern part of the country.  Poland's second-largest city after Warsaw, Kraków is over 1,200 years old.   It's considered one of Europe's greatest and best-preserved cultural centers.  

Check out this drone video of Poland's Szymbark Castle, compliments of AVEA - Alta Vista Epic Aerials.  The castle is located in its namesake village in the Voivodeship (province) of Warmian-Masurian, which covers much of northeastern Poland.  The castle was originally constructed in the 14th century by the Teutonic Order, a knightly order which was connected to the Second Crusade.   Szymbark Castle was privately held for centuries before being destroyed in the aftermath of World War II; it currently lies in a ruined state.  

Top AirVuz contributor PureCreations.pl brings us this fantastic drone video from the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland.  Part of the Carpathian Mountains system, the Tatra Mountains serve as the natural boundary between Poland and Slovakia to its south.  The subrange covers about 300 square mi. (just under 800 square km), roughly 25% of which is on the Polish side of the border.  The mountains reach altitudes of up to 8.7k ft. above sea level (around 2.65k m), with the highest peaks on the Polish side about 500 ft. (150 m) lower.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Luc Lics brings us this excellent drone video of a well-known ruined fortress in Poland.  Olsztyn Castle is located on a hill in Silesian Voivodeship, one of the country's southern provinces.  It's part of a chain of fortifications called the Trail of the Eagle's Nests, which dates to the 14th century and which served to protect the Kingdom of Poland from its southern neighbor, the Kingdom of Bohemia.   The landmark has been in a ruined state since the 17th century.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor droneviewpoland brings us this excellent drone video of Poland's Melsztyn Castle.  The castle is situated on a hill on the northern bank of the Dunajec River in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, a province in the southern part of the country.  Located about an hour's drive east-southeast of Kraków, the structure dates to the 14th century and possibly earlier.  The castle was burned in the late 18th century, shortly before Poland was (for a time) partitioned out of existence.

AirVuz contributor Adrian Krupczynski brings us this excellent aerial tour of Poland's Bobolice Castle.  The castle is located in its namesake town in the Silesian Voivodeship, one of Poland's southern provinces.  The castle was originally built in the 14th century as a defensive fortification, part of a string of forts known as the Trail of the Eagles Nests which were built atop the hills of the Polish Jura upland region.  In the 16th century, Bolobice Castle was rebuilt to serve as a residence for one of the region's noble families.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot cine_ghost put together this stunning video as a promotional piece from the Lower Silesia region of Poland.  Lower Silesia is the western part of the broader region of Silesia, which encompasses the southwestern part of Poland and historically extends into neighboring Germany and the Czech Republic.  Bounded by the Sudeten Mountains, and home to important cities like Wroclaw (Poland's third-largest), it's one of Poland's wealthiest regions.  

Check out this drone video of Poland's Przemyśl Cathedral, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot dronetraveler45.  Officially called the  Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist, the church features a mix of Baroque and Gothic architectural styles.  Dating to the 15th century, it's the most important church in this city, which is part of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in the southeastern corner of the country.  The church was heavily modified following a collapse of its roof in 1733.  

Some of the strangest sights arising from the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 were to be found at airports, many of which ground to a complete halt as social distancing measures enacted to slow the spread of the deadly coronavirus.  In this drone video by yoshi1989, you'll get an aerial view of the Copernicus Airport Wrocław airport in Wroclaw Poland during this historic period.  Wroclaw is the principal city of the historical region of Silesia, which covers parts of southwestern Poland, and capital of the modern-day Lower Silesian Voivodeship.  

Rzucewo Castle, sometimes known as Jan III Sobieski Castle, is a famous historical landmark in northeastern Poland.  Seen here is this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot Adrian Krupczynski, it's located in Pomeranian Voivodeship, the northernmost Polish province.  The original structure here dates to the medieval period and was home to John III Sobieski, King of Poland during the last years of the 17th century.  The current structure dates to the early 19th century and was designed by Friedrich August Stüler.  

Take in these drone views of one of Poland's most famous castles, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Bali Drone Guide.  Kórnik Castle is located in its namesake town in west-central Poland, about a half-hour drive southeast of the city of Poznań in the Greater Poland region.  Dating to the 14th century, the landmark took on its current Neo-Gothic design in the mid-1900's.  It houses both a museum and a library.  The castle has been designated a Historic Monument and is protected under Polish preservation laws.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Pikol1979 brings us this excellent drone video of the Silesian Lowlands of southwestern Poland.  The video was filmed outside of Wroclaw, the principal city of the historical region of Silesia which also includes small parts of the Czech Republic and Germany.  The Lowlands are part of the Central European Plain, which covers much of Poland, northern Germany, mainland Denmark, and the Benelux countries.  This area was part of Germany before World War II, following which Poland's borders were shifted westwards.   

In the Spring of 2020, with most of Europe under quarantine to fight the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, city centers that would normally be bursting with traffic and people became deathly quiet.  Here is one of these scenes, captured via a first person view (FPV) racing quad by top contributor and pilot Dronujemy.  He filmed the old city of Poznań, Poland with his racing drone, creating a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime perspective of the fifth-largest Polish city and the cultural capital of western Poland.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor mikolajuriasz brings us this excellent drone video of Kraków, Poland.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, the video captures the second-largest Polish city on a foggy November morning just as the sun is beginning to rise.  Starting at about the :15 mark, there is a great shot of the Wawel Castle, the 14th century landmark which was the first UNESCO World Heritage site.  Other highlights include the Gothic masterpiece St. Mary's Basilica starting at 1:27 and the Main Square starting at 2:09.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor on.the.level  brings us this excellent drone video of Katowice, Poland.  One of the country's dozen largest cities, it's part of the province of Silesia, in the southwestern part of the country.  It lies near the Silesian coal fields, one of Poland's most important natural resources.  The region had been part of Prussia (the core of modern Germany) but came under Polish control after World War I, where it's remained but for six years of German occupation/annexation in World War II. 

Content creator and pilot Krecik Turbo used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this aerial of a cruise ship docked in the Baltic Sea port of Gdynia, Poland.  It's the second largest city in the Pomerania region after Gdansk, which lies to its south.  It's located on the western shores of the Bay of Gdansk, just south of the area which is partly divided from the rest of the bay by the Hel Peninsula.  Gdynia is a significant leisure travel destination and an important port for cruise ships plying the waters of the Baltic.  

Here's a fascinating aerial view of a very modern looking Warsaw, Poland, compliments of contributor.  For decades, the only tall building in the Polish capital city was the 50's era Palace of Culture and Science.  While it is still (as of early 2019) the city's tallest building, it has lots of competition - over a dozen buildings now top 150 meters (about 500 ft.) and more are on the way.  In the video, you will see how this city is being transformed with ultramodern skyscrapers such as the Warsaw Spire complex.

Get a rare look at a major Baltic Sea container port in this excellent first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot FPV_Aerials.  He was able to film the Port of Gdańsk, which lies along the Bay of Gdańsk, an inlet of the Baltic.  Poland's principal seaport and the economic engine of its fourth-largest metropolitan area, the port handles about two million containers per year and about 50 million tons of freight overall.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in early March of 2022.  

AirVuz contributor Adrian Krupczynski put together this excellent captioned drone video from the mountains of southern Poland.  The video was filmed in the vicinity of Solina, a town in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland's southernmost province.  The setting is the heart of the Beskid Mounains (Bieszczady), a subchain of the Carpathians which serve as Poland's natural southern boundary.  The video features footage from a number of spots in the area, including the Solina Dam and its reservoir lake, Poland's largest.  

From contributor and pilot DroneEyePerspective comes this beautiful "drone's eye" view of a historical Baltic Sea port in Poland.  It's called Kołobrzeg, and it's a mid-sized city of about 50,000 in the Vlodship (province) of West Pomerania, which covers the northwest corner of the country.  The town was at one time a member of the powerful Hanseatic League of Baltic port cities, and later spent three centuries under Prussian and German rule before becoming part of reconstituted Poland after World War II.  

The Oliwa Cathedral is a famous church in northern Poland.  Seen in this excellent drone video by contributor Adrian Krupczynski, it's located in the Oliwa District of Gdańsk, the country's main port on the Baltic Sea.  Built in the late 1500's on the site of a 12th century monastery, the church took much of its current form with the addition of a Baroque style portal (opening) in the late 1600's.  The video also features some nice footage of the park and buildings surrounding the church, which was elevated to an archcathedral in 1992.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner PureCreations.pl brings us this excellent nighttime drone video of the city of Katowice in southern Poland.  Capital of the voivodeship (province) of Silesia, Katowice is located about an hour's drive west-northwest of Kraków, Poland's second-largest city.  Katowice became an important industrial center in the 19th century due to its proximity to the Silesian coalfields, at a time when the region was part of the Germany Empire; Silesia became part of Poland following World War I.

The Royal Castle is one of the great landmarks of Warsaw, Poland.  The castle, along with most of Warsaw's Old Town, was virtually destroyed by Nazi Germany during the course of World War II, with most of the damage being deliberately inflicted following the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising in late 1944.  In the postwar decades, the castle and most of the Old Town were meticulously reconstructed.  You can see the famous castle and its gardens from above in this drone video by contributor and pilot volatusmedia.     

In this outstanding video by former Drone  Video of the Week Winner PureCreations.pl, you'll get a thrilling first person view (FPV) drone tour of the city of Bytom, Poland.  Bytom is one of the largest cities of Silesia, a highly industrialized region of southern Poland.  Established in the 12th century, Bytom is one of the oldest Silesian cities, and it was part of Germany (including the earlier state of Prussia) for about 200 years prior to the end of World War II.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list.  

Poznan is the largest city in western Poland and the fifth largest in the country.  At one point, the city had a large German population, and it was incorporated into Germany near the outset of World War II.  Decades later, Poznan was the scene of some of the earliest unrest over the Soviet Union's hegemony in the 1950's, a role later taken by Gdansk.  In this video, contributor and pilot Dronujemy gives us a  fascinating aerial tour of this very old city, which includes aerial footage of the Poznan Cathedral.
