Check out this stunning DVOW nominated video from Bologna, Italy, compliments of Jackanda.  Featuring stunning aerial footage of the city and its surrounding hills, the video was taken during the Covid-19 pandemic, when social distancing measures left the streets of the ancient Emilia-Romagna capital city virtually empty.  The ER region, which covers much of north-central Italy, was particularly hard-hit during the pandemic; only the Piedmont and Lombardy regions recorded more infections and deaths.

For a second upload to AirVuz, contributor Tommaso Biagi brings us this excellent drone video of a snow-covered Bologna, Italy.  The video opens with shots of the Sanctuary of Madonna di San Luca, a church situated atop a hill overlooking the great city.  Then it's on to the city's famed "Two Towers": the Asinelli and Garisenda Towers, both of which date to the 12th century.  Then it's on to the Palazzo re Enzo and behind it the Basilica di San Petronio, as well as the Piazza Maggiore that lies between the two landmarks.

AirVuz contributor Marco Miele brings us this excellent Christmastime drone video from one of the great landmarks of northern Italy: the Asinelli Tower in the city of Bologna.  It's the taller of the Two Towers, a pair of medieval era structures which are the most recognized in this historic city.  Built in the early 12th century, the Asinelli Tower stands nearly 100 meters tall - around 325 ft. The video also features some nice footage of the second of the Two Towers: Garisenda Tower, which is about half as tall.

Bologna vs. Bononia: A Short Journey in Time

Marco Miel...

Drone video footage and computer generated "historical" footage of the great city of Bologna are skillfully combined to make this impressive visual collage.  Bologna is Italy's seventh most populous city as of 2018 and the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region in the north central part of the country.  It was founded by the Etruscans, a civilization which pre-dated the Roman Republic.  Among other honors, the city is home to the oldest university in the world - Bologna University, founded at the end of the 11th century.

Check out these marvelous wintertime drone views of the great Italian city of Bologna, compliments of contributor Marco Miele.  Capital of the north-central region of Emilia-Romagna and Italy's seventh-largest city, Bologna lies at the transition between the great plain of the Po River and the Apennine Mountains.  At the :55 mark, there's a nice fly-by of Asinelli Tower, with the Baroque style church of Santa Maria della Vita in the background.  Other locations include the San Petronio Basilica (1:35), the Piazza Maggiore (1:45), and more.

Michele Ci...

The Italian city of Bologna is perhaps best architecturally distinguished by its two medieval towers, which you'll see in this drone video by Michele Ciancio.  The taller of the two, Asinelli Tower, stands just under 320 ft. (about 97 m), while Garisenda Tower stands around 157 ft. or around 48 m.  The towers are named after the two families which built them, by some accounts in competition with each other, in the early 12th century.  Like the Tower of Pisa in Tuscany, both of Bologna's towers "lean" off of vertical.

Check out this drone video of a well known monastery near the city of Bologna in northern Italy, compliments of contributor enricocif.  It's called the Abbey of Monteveglio (Abbazia di Monteveglio Sanctuario), and it's located in the town of Valsamoggia just to the west of the great university city.  The current structure dates to the 11th and 12th centuries, although the original monastery was likely considerably older.  Originally built for the Augustinian order, it now houses Franciscan monks.

Misty Northern Italy: Bologna and Ferrara

Ericbartol...

The famed misty hills of Italy's Emilia-Romagna region are on full display here in the magnificent drone video by contributor Rikk08.  The video was shot in two spots: Bologna and Ferrara.  The former is the regional capital, lying in the province of the same name.  It's Italy's seventh largest city, and was one of the largest cities in Europe during the Middle Ages.  Ferrara is the capital of the eponymously named province, which lies in the northeast part of the region, on a branch of the Po River.

In this drone video by contributor Luca T., you'll get a bird's eye view of the Rocchetta Mattei, a well-known 19th-century estate in the Apennine Mountains in the Metropolitan City of Bologna in north-central Italy.  It was the home of Count Cesare Mattei, a well-known politician and self-taught doctor who was referenced in the great Russian novel the Brothers Karamozov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.  The fortress-like landmark in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region fell into a ruinous state but was restored and opened to the public in 2015.

The city of Bologna is considered one of the great cultural treasures of Italy.  It's the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region in the north-central part of the country.  What's less appreciated though is the areas just outside of the city which are home to some of the world's most unusual rock formations.  In this drone video by enricocif, you'll get a bird's eye view of the Parco della Abbadessa e Castello Machiavelli.  The park sits in the hills outside of the city, in the heart of a series of large and distinctive granite outcrops.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca sits on top of the hills in Bologna, the largest city in the Emilia-Romagna Region of northern Italy. Built in the Baroque style and opened in 1765, the site was home to a different church or chapel for over a thousand years before the current church was commissioned.
