The city of Bologna is one of the cultural treasures of Italy. Capital of the region of Emilia Romagna, Bologna dates from the time of the Etruscans, the civilization which dominated much of central Italy prior to the rise of Rome. Located near the foothills of the Apennine Mountains, Bologna was one of the largest cities in Europe during the Middle Ages. Home of the world's oldest university, Bologna is instantly recognizable by its distinctive medieval towers and churches. Check out this collection of drone videos of this great city, the center of a metropolitan area of over a million in population.
