Drone Videos of Venice

At the :20 mark, there's an excellent shot of the Santa Maria della Salute church, on the opposite side of the Grand Canal from St. Mark's.  Other featured locations include San Giorgio Maggiore island (:40), the Rialto Bridge (1:04), the island of Burano (starting at 1:49), and more.  

Venice is one of Italy's most well recognized and treasured sights.  The magnificent Rennaissance city in the Veneto region is, unfortunately,  fighting a losing battle against tourism and water encroachment, leading some to fear that its days may be numbered.  In this video, top contributor and drone pilot Oliver Astrologo takes us on an aerial tour of this magical place, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This video is nominated in our Cities & Urban category for the 2nd annual Drone Video Awards.

Content creator and pilot Thedronetrip used a DJI Mavic Pro drone and some very creative post-production editing to create this stunning aerial view of the great sinking city of Venice, Italy.  The aerial views of the city's canals will show you why this UNESCO World Heritage Cultural site has been used as the shooting location for numerous feature-length movies.  Notably, Venice was used as a shooting location for the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale as well as the 1979 installment Moonraker.

Contributor Nathan Jermy created this beautiful aerial mini-tour of Venice, the most well known city in northeastern Italy.  Shot across the islands that make up the city, much of the footage is of the Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square); sitting at one end of the square, the tower of the Church of St. Mark is the city's most recognizable sight.  James Bond fans will instantly recognize the Piazza: in the 1977 classic Moonraker (#12 in the series), 007 (played by Roger Moore) arrives in the Piazza on a gondola.  

Using a collection of filming gear, AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Alin Constantin gives us a winter's view of the ancient floating city, Venice, Italy. His gear includes a DJI Mavic Pro for aerials and a GoPro Hero 5 + Karma Stabilizer for ground shots, giving us a nice blend of views. Along his journey he visits three of Venice's islands: Lido, home to the Venice Film Festival; Burano, known for its brightly colored fisherman's houses; and Murano, world-renowned for its history in glass-making. 

There is definitely "truth in advertising" in the title of this first person view (FPV) tour of Venice, Italy, compliments of contributor pilot tommasocodolo.  Using an FPV racing drone, he was able to fly over St. Marks's Square (Piazza San Marco) at one of the most unusual times in the city's centuries-old history: when it was virtually shut down in the Spring of 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.  The video will show you one of Europe's most iconic spots virtually devoid of people, from the unique perspective afforded by a racing drone. 

Top contributor and former DVOW winner johannesbloechl skillfully combined iPhone and DJI Mavic footage to create this unforgettable mini-tour of the great Italian city of Venice.  The video opens with a brilliant sunrise shot looking toward St. Marks Square (Piazza San Marco), the aesthetic heart of the city.  At about the 1:00 mark, there's a great shot of the famous Rialto Bridge, the oldest of the four spans over the Grand Canal.  The video also features some excellent footage of the Murano islands just north of Venice.

This outstanding drone video of Venice, Italy opens with a great shot of the city's most famous site: St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco), located just off the Grand Canal.  At the :15 mark, there's a great shot looking toward the Santa Maria della Salute basilica (aka the Salut), where the Grand Canal meets the Giudecca Canal.  At the :55 mark, there's another great shot of great Bell Tower in St. Mark's Square taken from acoss the Grand Canal.  The video concludes with a sunset shot looking southwest past the Salut.  

Italy's Venetian Lagoon is one of the world's most famous.  It's formed by the islands of the city of Venice and neighboring islands, which nearly separate the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea.  It has a surface around of around 515 square km, or just over 200 square miles, including the islands within it.  The lagoon was only formed about 6,000 years ago.  Largely covered by mud flats and tidal shallows, the lagoon is the largest wetland area in the Mediterranean Basin.  Check it out from above in this drone video by Sauron82. 

Check out this fantastic drone video of a port town on Italy's Venetian Lagoon, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Sauron82.  The town of Chioggia sits on a small island at the southern mouth of the Venetian Lagoon, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea in the northeastern part of the country.  Part of the Metropolitan City of Venice, Chioggia is located about 50 km (around 30 mi.) south of central Venice by road.  With a permanent population in the commune of about 50k, Chioggia is sometimes called Little Venice,.  

Check out this marvelous drone tour of the churches of Venice, Italy, compliments of contributor alvisex@gmail.  At the :20 mark, there's a great shot of the St Mark's Campanile bell tower in Piazza San Marco, the city's main public square, along the Grand Canal.  This is followed by some incredible shots of the St. Mark's Basilica, the city's most famous church, which lies on the eastern end of the Piazza.  Other highlights include a great shot of the San Giorgio Maggiore Church at 1:15 and the Santa Maria della Salute Church at 1:45.

Prepare to be amazed by this stunning first person view (FPV) drone tour of Venice, Italy by top AirVuz contributor CataFpv.  Filmed in one shot, the video opens with a circling of the basilica of San Pietro di Castello on its namesake island, which lies towards the eastern end of the archipelago on which the city is built.  From there, you'll head south along the San Pietro Canal before heading back north again, then turning west for a fly-through of a crane and on to the waters around the Ventian Arsenal, a former shipyard.  

Piazza San Marco (aka St. Mark's Square) is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Venice, Italy and indeed all of Europe.  In this amazing video by FlyCiak, you'll get a first person view (FPV) drone view of the famous square, which lies along the city's Grand Canal.  Filmed with a single shot, the video opens with a fly-by along the western side of the Doge Palace towards St. Mark's Basilica, which dates to the 11th century AD.  Further on, you'll soar past the adjacent St. Mark's Campanile bell tower and the Lion of Venice statue.  

Check out these  sunset drone views of the Italian city of Venice, compliments ofAlberto Ardit.  The video opens with a shot of the San Giorgio Maggiore church on the small island of the same name, on the south side of the Grand Canal.  Starting at about :15 there is an epic timelapse shot of the St Mark's Campanile tower on the north side of the Grand Canal and the Santa Maria della Salute church on its southern side.  Starting at about :30 there's a great pull out shot from the Campanile, revealing the adjacent St. Marks Cathedral.

Drone Video Award winner Druno brings us this fantastic first person view (FPV) video of Venice, Italy.  Filmed while the city's public spaces were still largely empty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the video opens with a shot along one of the city's canals.  The "star" of the show is the Santa Maria della Salute, one of Venice's most famous churches.  Distinguished by its octagonal dome.  Situated at the tip of the Punta della Dogana on the south side of the Grand Canal, the church was consecrated in 1681.  

AirVuz contributor FreD brings us this excellent drone videos of two of the islands of Venice, Italy.  The first island to appear is the Lido de Venise, which is one of the barrier islands which form the eastern side of the Venetian Lagoon.  Lying just to the east and southeast of the main city, the narrow island is about seven (7) mi. long or around eleven (11) km.  The other island is smaller but more well-known: the Isola San Giorgio.  Situated just east of the Giudecca, this island is dominated by the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore.

During Europe's Medieval and Early Modern periods, the Italian city of Venice was home to one of the world's greatest ports.  While its importance to commercial shipping has since declined, it's become one of the most significant cruise ship ports in the Mediterranean region.  In 2018, the port handled just over a thousand cruise ship arrivals and about 1.5 million passengers.  In this drone video by contributor The Hobby Traveler - Gabrsh Gabor, you'll get an aerial view of the port's main cruise ship terminal.  

Take in these marvelous 4k aerial views of the Italian city of Venice, compliments of AirVuz contributor Dashera.  In a single shot, you'll fly backwards over the Guidecca Canal from a starting point just to the southwest of St. Mark's Square, the aesthetic heart of the city.  Flying in a southwestern direction, you'll pass over a giant cruise ship heading west on the canal.  On the right, you'll be able to make out the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, which sits on a small island due south of St. Marks. 

The great Italian city of Venice technically does not sit on the sea.  Rather, it's a series of islands on a lagoon which is created by the discharge of the Po and Piave Rivers and which is only thinly connected to the Adriatic Sea.  Extremely shallow in parts and with a constantly-changing mixture of seawater and freshwater, the lagoon plays an important role as a bird sanctuary.  In this drone video by Alberto Ardit, you'll get an aerial view of a flock of flamingoes cruising these famous waters.  

Take a mini-tour of the canals of Venice Italy in this excellent first person view (FPV) drone video by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot CataFpv.  The video opens with a shot flying out a window and two right turns which will take you over a goldola making its way along one of these famous waterways.  You'll follow along the canal fo a bit, flying between the buildings which line it, before emerging over the top to see the St Mark's Campanile tower in the distance.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list.     

Get a unique perspective of the great city of Venice, Italy in this fantastic first person view (FPV) piece by top AirVuz contributor Alberto Ardit.  The video opens with footage of the Santa Maria della Salute on the Punta della Dogana.  Then, in a single shot, you'll fly across the Grand Canal to the St Mark's Campanile and the adjacent Basilica and the Doge Palace, before heading back across the canal.  This video was picked for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in April of  2021.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor AlessandroZucchini brings us this outstanding first person view (FPV) drone video of a sailing race in Venice, Italy.  It's called the Venice Hospitality Challenge, the tenth running of which took place in October of 2023.  The race runs Maxi yachts through a series of markers between St. Mark’s Basin and the Giudecca Canal on the Venetian Lagoon, with the city's famous architecture in the background.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October of 2023.
