Aerial Views of Central Asia

Prepare to be blown away by this spectacular first person view (FPV) drone reel - a nominee for 2023 FPV Drone Video of the Year - by AirVuz creator and pilot EPIFANOVKZ. Filmed in several countries in Central Asia, the video opens with car chasing shots, followed by a flyover of a music concert. Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Enrico Pescantini brings us this stunning drone video from the Central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan.  The video opens with shots of a resort area on Issyk-Kul, the giant saline lake in the Tian Shan Mountains in the eastern part of the country.  From there, you'll head into a stunning valley in these mountains, and then into Shazka Canyon (aka the "Fairy Tale Canyon", just south of the lake.  The video ends with a shot looking across  Issyk-Kul, the world's second-largest mountain lake.    

Prepare to be amazed by this aerial tour of Kazakhstan by contributor and drone pilot Kuznetsovkz.  The video will take you across the extent of this Central Asian republic, one of the ten largest countries in the world by land area.  Ride along and you will get some epic bird's eye views of the country's mountains (which include some of the world's highest peaks), river valleys, and glacial lakes.  At the :50 mark you'll even get an epic bird's eye of the gold ball topped Baiterek Tower in the capital city Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana).  

Prepare to be amazed by the astounding views of Afghanistan in this magnificent drone video by top AirVuz contributor Khyber Khan.  Highlights include footage of Dragon Valley, Sharh-E Zuhak, Band E Amir, Shahr E Gholghola, the Buddhas of Bamiyan, Istalif, Band E Nagh, Mahipor Pass, Surobi, and Koh E Babu.  It closes with some epic aerial shots of the capital city Kabul. This video was picked as a Finalist for the second annual AirVuz Drone Video Awards in the Countries & Regions category. 

Top content creator Air Cinema brings us this DVOW nominated drone tour of Uzbekistan, one of the five former Central Asian republics of the Soviet Union until the early 1990's.  The video opens with shots of Tashkent, the country's capital, whose TV tower (seen in opening frames) was once the world's fourth-tallest.  Then it's on to Bukhara, which once stood astride the fabled Silk Road and whose city center is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.  You'll also get some glimpses of Uzbekistan's eastern mountains, the ancient city of Khiva, and more.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Mike Smith Projects created this stunning drone video from a trip to the Central Asian Republic of Tajikstan.  This mountainous land was part of the Soviet Union prior to its dissolution in the early 1990's.  The country is home to most of the area covered by the Pamir Mountain range, which includes some of the world's tallest peaks.  Most of the footage in this video was taken in the eastern part of the country, long its long crazily shaped border with Afghanistan. 

The Central Asian republics of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are home to some of the finest natural scenery in the world.  You can see for yourself in this stunning 4k drone video featuring the diverse landscapes of the two countries.  Highlights include the Skazka ("Fairy Tale") Canyon in northern Kyrgyzstan; the mighty Charyn Canyon in southeastern Kazakhstan; and the nearby Lake Kaindy, which is distinguished by the partially submerged tree trunks still standing from before the lake was created by an earthquake in 1911.  

Take an aerial tour of Central Asia in this amazing trip reel from contributor LeonardJames.  Home of the ancient Silk Road, this region includes some of the most beautiful natural scenery on earth as well as some of its most treacherous mountain passes.  The video begins with footage of the rapidly-evaporating Aral Sea sea in Uzbekistan.  From there you'll see the Uzbek cities of  Samarkand and Khiva, before heading east on the Pamir Highway, traversing the Pamir Mountains and ending in Tajikistan.

While the Central Asian nation of Afghanistan is perhaps most associated with war and conflict, there is more to this country than what is always on news headlines. The country is rich and full of beautiful landscape with snowcapped mountains (including some of the world's highest peaks), lush green valleys, magnificent deserts, and historical monuments from ancient empires. This aerial film by contributor and drone pilot Khyber Khan captures and showcases some of the breathtaking beauty of the land.

Prepare to be amazed by this stunning DVOW-nominated drone video of some of the most beautiful scenery in Central Asia, compliments of fabionodari.  The video was filmed in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the two easternmost countries of the region.  Some of the highlights include the magnificent Lake Kaindy, an alpine lake east of Kazakhstan's largest city Almaty which is known for its submerged tree trunks; Charyn Canyon, a bit further to the east; the Canyon Skazka in northern Kyrgyzstan; and more. 

Charyn Canyon is one of the natural wonders of Central Asia.  It's located in the southeastern corner of Kazakhstan, about 200 km (around 120 mi.) from its largest city (and erstwhile capital) Almaty.  Created by the Charyn River, the canyon runs a length about 80 km (around 50 mi.), and it reaches a maximum depth of about 300 meters (just under a thousand feet).  Seen here in this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor dronogrom, the canyon is known for its colorful rock "sculptures" caused by erosion of its red sandstone.

Contributor BaliDroneProduction ventured far from home to create this amazing drone video of two of the most spectacular areas of Central Asia.   Issyk-Kul is a large saline lake in the eastern part of Kyrgyzstan.  Almost 180 km (about 110 mi.) long, it's the seventh deepest lake in the world.  Charyn Canyon is a 90 km (about 55 mi.) long canyon in the southeastern corner of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan's eastern neighbor.  Formed by the river of the same name, it is considered one of the world's great canyons.

Top AirVuz contributor and DVA Finalist Khyber Khan put together this magnificent aerial tour of the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan.  Considered a western extension of the Himalayan Mountain chain, the Hindu Kush run for about 800 km (just under 500 mi.) through eastern Afghanistan and into neighboring Tajikstand and China.  Known in the Antiquity as the Caucasus Indicus or Paropamisadae range, their highest peaks reach an altitude of 7.7k meters above sea level (25.3k ft.).  This video was a DVOW Finalist in January, 2020.

Top contributor Boyanoo brings us this stunning drone video from a remote valley in the mountains of Central Asia.  The Bartang Valley is situated in the eastern third of the republic of Tajikstan, the southeasternmost of the five Central Asian republics born with the dissolution of the USSR in the early 1990's.  The Bartang River rises in the Pamir Mountains to the east, and the valley is located on a westward-flowing stretch of it.  The Partang joins with the Panj River near the border with Afghanistan.  

Prepare to be blown away by this magnificent drone video of a canyon in the Central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan.  It's known as the Fairy Tale Canyon, and when you watch the video you will see why.  Also known as Canyon Skazka, it's located in the vicinity of Issyk Lake, one of the other natural wonders of this amazing land astride the ancient Silk Road.  The spectacular rock formations (and the canyon itself) are a function of the highly unusual rock composition, wind, and water erosion factors here.  

Global Air Media shot this short but stunning drone video of one of the most famous sights of the Central Asian republic of Kyrghystan: Sulayman Mountain.  It's located in the city of Osh, the country's second largest city after Bishkek.  Located roughly in the middle of the famed Silk Road, Sulayman is named after the prophet Sulayman from the Koran, who is believed to be buried here.  It's a major Muslim Pilgrimage site and the only UNESCO World Heritage site located entirely within the country.
