2023 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 23

Every week, our team reviews every video uploaded to the site to pick the Top 5 videos. Then, we name our favorite as our Drone Video of the Week and send that drone pilot $ 250. Former DVOW Winner Hayden Kast brings us this marvelous drone video filmed during a backcountry ski trip in the USA's Rocky Mountains.  The video was filmed near Telluride, in southwestern Colorado.  The peaks here are the San Juan Mountains, a subchain of the Rockies which covers parts of southwestern Colorado and extends into northern New Mexico.  The video includes some outstanding shots of Mt. Sneffels, which has a summit altitude of just under 14.2k ft. above sea level (4.3k m) and is the third-highest peak of the San Juans.  

Weighing only 8 oz. (250 g) and exempt from many drone regulations, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is perfect for the traveling drone pilot.  To demonstrate the impressive cinematic capabilities of the Mini 3 Pro, Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Nico Lehr brings us this excellent aerial video from Switzerland.  Filming over a series of spectacular alpine lakes and valleys, the video shows conclusively that extremely high quality video and light weight are by no means mutually exclusive qualities.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist kino-team brings us this excellent drone video from the Cappadocia region of central Turkey.  The side trip from Istanbul was originally intended to film the region's famous hot air balloons, but windy weather kept the balloons grounded.  Instead, the focus of the video is the ground scenery which is the raison d'être for the world-reknowned ballooning scene: the rock "fairy tale" castles which cover much of the region, which are a product of some unique rock formation and erosion processes.     

Top AirVuz contributor Gizmo Drones used the Autel Nano+ drone to create this stunning drone video of Melbourne, Australia.  The video was flown flying over and around Fitzroy Gardens, a 64 acre park and green space just to the southeast of the Melbourne CBD.  Starting at the :56 mark, you'll fly by St. Patrick's Cathedral, which is located between the gardens and the CBD.  At 1:17, there's a nice shot of the Melbourne Park sports complex (just south of the gardens) and at 1:45 there's a beautiful view of the CBD from Treasury Gardens.

Former DVOW Finalist Gustavo Quiroga brings us this stunning drone video from the Patagonia region of southern Argentina.  The footage was shot with a DJI Mini 3 drone flying from various locations mostly in the southwestern part of the Neuquén province as some spots over the provincial border with neighboring Rio Negro (the other province of northern Argentinian Patagonia).  As you'll see in the video, the landscape here varies from the snow-capped peaks of the Andes and enormous glacially-fed lakes to the vast plains of the Pampas.
