2023 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 20

This outstanding piece by former DVOW Winner and 2023 DVOY nominee Alexandre Velluet x Scandia Productions offers hope as well as a warning.  Opening with stunning shots from Iceland, the video reminds us it took 4 billion years for the earth to evolve to the point where it could support life.  Just before the 1:00, the scene shifts to the Chassiron Lighthouse on France's Oléron, then back to Iceland, during which time we are reminded that humankind's "progress" over the last 200 years has put the earth on the brink of destruction.  
 

Multiple Drone Video of the Week/Month Winner BashirAbuShakra brings us this stunning drone video from the Dolomite Mountains in northeastern Italy.  The video footage was captured with a DJI Mavic Pro 3 over the course of a seven day solo trek through the mountains, which are part of the Southern Limestone Alps and which cover parts of several provinces in the Trentino-Alto-Adigio and Veneto regions.  It includes some epic shots of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) massif, on the border of the South Tyrol and Belluno provinces.

 brings us this stunning drone video from Iceland.     The video features a dramatic mix of shots (including dronelapse shots) of the diverse landscapes of Iceland, ranging from its mountainous highland interior to its famous black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls, and more.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 drone, which unfortunately ingested some of that black sand and was temporarily rendered inoperable before getting fixed and back into the air. 

Drone Promotions is a commercial drone piloting company which operates in the area around Lake Tahoe in the western USA.  In this outstanding 2023 demo reel, you'll see some of the highlights of their aerial videography work over the course of the previous seven years.  The video footage was captured with a DJI Inspire 2 drone, which (until 2023) represented the top of the DJI product line.  The reel features a great mix of action and landscape shots, including some great views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains.  

AirVuz contributor goncaloafanco was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist for this fantastic piece from Iceland.  Following the opening credits, you'll be taken over some of the highlands in the southern part of the island, followed by a great shot of a glacial lagoon.  Starting at the 2:02 mark, you'll see a series of watefalls: Dettifoss, Hengifoss, and Skogafoss.  Other highlights include Gulfoss Canyon (3:22), the Stuðlagil ravine (3:31), the Krafka lava fields, the Westfjords, and more.
