Dagestan is what as known as a republic of Russia, a form of administrative division which is similar to an oblast that's used in many of the non-Russian ethnic regions of the vast country.  Dagestan is situated in the North Caucasus region, along the western side of the Caspian Sea and extending some ways inland into the Caucasus Mountains.  In this drone video by Rasul Abdurazakov, you'll get an aerial view of the Dagestan's Rutulsky District, a mountainous area in the southwestern part of the republic.
