Sardinia, The Archipelago of La Maddalena

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Top AirVuz contributor Marco Miele brings us this fantastic drone video of the La Maddalena Archipelago, a group of seven main islands (plus some smaller islets) which sit off the northern end of the giant Italian island of Sicily.  The smaller islands lies in the Strait of Bonifacio (part of the Mediterranean Sea), which separates Sardinia from the (French) island of Corsica to its north.  Considered part of Sardinia's Costa Smeralda at the northern tip of the island, the archipelago is also a major wildlife area.

The archipelago of La Maddalena is a group of islands in the north-east of Sardinia, off the coast of Gallura. Among the most important, La Maddalena, Caprera, Santo Stefano, Budelli, Santa Maria, Razzoli, Spargi, as well as other smaller ones such as the islets of Rome, Cardellino and Cala Lunga. There are 62 of them, between islands and islets, for a total of 180 km of coastline. The only inhabited islands are La Maddalena and Caprera. The archipelago is a popular destination for boaters due to its natural beauty and pristine emerald waters. The entire archipelago and its beaches, or both the marine and terrestrial areas, have been totally included within the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park since 1994; for this reason, it is necessary to obtain the appropriate authorizations issued by its managing body for the exercise of recreational activities, sport fishing, scuba diving and economic activities at sea
