AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : AirVuz contributor Nolan Reiff brings us this excellent drone video from "Amish Country" in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Amish is an Anabaptist church which orignated in Switzerland and France. Closely related to the Mennonite denomination, Amish followers generally eschew modern conveniences and dress. The perseverance and distinctiveness of their traditions, despite being located just a short distance from major (read: modern) cities, has turned the area into a major tour attraction.

The Amish have always intrigued the outside world. An estimated 8 million tourists visit the Amish community in Lancaster County every year. The question, "What draws people to the Amish?", is what inspired this film. In a way, this film reflects my own journey. Having grown up in Lancaster County, I always thought the area was boring and not worth filming. No majestic mountains, no exotic wildlife. Aren't the best films always captured thousands of miles away from home? But then my eyes opened and I saw the beautiful simplicity in the landscape around me and in the people that make this place their home. This film is a product of the countless hours I spent on my bike perusing the local countyside around golden hour exploring my new-found treasure. My hope is that this film will inspire you to find the beauty in the simple moments of your daily life. -Nolan Reiff
