Monte Cimone, January 2024

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Top AirVuz contributor Marco Miele brings us this outstanding drone video from Italy's Monte Cimone, one of the tallest peaks in the Appenine Mountains.  Located in Modena, one of the central provinces of the Emilia-Romagna region, the mountain has a peak altitude of about 7.1k ft. above sea level (a little under 2.2k m).  Its summit is the highest point in the northern part of the Appenine chain (which runs down the "spine" of Italy) as well as the highest in the entire Emilia-Romagna region.

Mount Cimone (formerly Alpe de Nona) is the highest relief in the northern Apennines and the Emilia-Romagna region, with a height of 2,165 m above sea level, near the border with the Pistoiese mountains (Tuscany). It is part of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and, not being located on the ridge of the Apennine watershed, the summit and all the slopes of the mountain, which affect the municipalities of Fiumalbo, Sestola, Fanano, Riolunato and Montecreto, fall within the territory of the province of Modena .
