Winnipeg - Downtown and Fort Gibraltar

Views of downtown Winnipeg and Shaw Baseball Stadium, located just to the west of the Red River, and also of the Fort Gibraltar historic site on the east side of the river. The Fort is a 1978-built replica of the original structure which was built at the confluence of the Red River and Assiniboine River in 1809-1810. Fort Gibraltar was a North West Company trading post and played a crucial role in the development of the Red River Colony and in the conflict between the North West Company and the Hudson’s Bay Company. It is also a primary site for the Festival du Voyageur, the largest winter cultural festival in western Canada.
