Verzasca Dam (Ticino, Switzerland)

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Kpax brings us this excellent drone video of Switzerland's Verzasca Dam. Also known as the Contra Dam, it's Switzerland's fourth-tallest but probably its most well-known. The reason is that it was the "co-star" of one of the most famous stunt scenes in cinematic history: the bungee-jumping sequence which opened the 19th James Bond movie, GoldenEye (1995). It's located in the southern (and Italian-speaking) canton of Ticino on the Verzasca river, just upstream from Lake Maggiore.

The Verzasca dam was built in the 60s. The reservoir is now exceptionally emptied for maintenance work. The opening scene of the 1995 James Bond movie GoldenEye featured Bond jumping off the dam.
