The tower of forgotten times

It covers a land area of about 43.7 square km (just under 17k square mi.), most of it looks far different than places like Copacabana Beach, Niteroi, and Sugarloaf Mountain. Award-winning contributor Fabio Knoll created this epic drone video of a very old tower in a beautiful area in the state's interior, well west of the city which is also the state capital.

Hidden among the mountains of the Serra das Araras, along the old road to Rio de Janeiro, an abandoned tower rises in silence — a solitary witness to another era.
