Located at the mouth of the Pequonnock River on Long Island Sound, about 100 km (around 60 mi.) from Manhattan, Bridgeport is Connecticut's largest city. Once one of the country's most industrialized cities, Bridgeport's fortunes declined precipitously after World War II as many of its factories closed. In the last two decades, it has seen considerable redevelopment, particularly along its waterfront.
