The Seasons of Utah 2019

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Top contributor RobSkyHigh, who was a DVOW Finalist in April of 2019, does it again with this stunning dronelapse from his home state of Utah. The excellent hyperlapse sequences cover all four seasons in the state, home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the USA. The footage was captured in the Salt Lake Valley, which covers about 1.3k square km (around 500 square mi.) in the northeastern part of the state. It's almost entirely surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2.

This video takes the viewer through the four distinct seasons in the beautiful state of Utah. I live in the Salt Lake valley completely surrounded by mountains from the Rocky Mountain range. Nearly all of the video was captured with the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. The majority of clips use the Hyperlapse function that captures a series of still photos at 2sec increments while the drone moves very slowly across the sky. I then take the resulting hundreds of RAW photographs and compile them into After Effects as a video clip. After some color correction, I use warp stabilizer to smooth out the video and often add some noise reduction using NEAT video. As you will see in some of the clips, the Mavic 2 Pro is amazing at capturing very clean photos in low light. The RAW photos allow a great amount of latitude to fine-tune color and exposure. Also, the files are large enough to easily create 4K video with plenty of real estate to crop if necessary. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
