Founded in 1834, WFU moved from its namesake town north of Raleigh, North Carolina to its current location in Winston-Salem in 1956. Its current enrollment of about 8.5k is roughly 40% graduate and professional schools. Its undergraduate program admitted fewer than 30% of applications for the 2019-20 academic year, and was ranked #27 amongst national universities in the 2019 US News and World Report survey.
