The Bird of Kasimbu | A Cinematic FPV Journey Through Luanda 🇦🇴
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Top AirVuz contributor ArturCarvalho won the Drone Video of the Week contest in early 2025 with this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone tour from Angola in southwestern Africa. The video was filmed over and around the city of Luanda, which is located on the northern part of the country's long western (Atlantic Ocean) coastline and is one of the largest cities on the continent. Filmed with a DJI Avata 2 drone, the video features shots from the city and its beaches as well as of the birds which ply its important nearby wetlands.

In the heart of Luanda, where tradition meets modern resilience, a DJI FPV Avata 2 drone takes flight, capturing the soul of Angola from a unique, immersive perspective. This is more than just a travel film — it’s a storytelling journey, weaving through the vibrant alleys of Chicala, gliding above the waters of Mussulo Bay, and tracing the lifelines of a city that thrives on contrast.
Through the mist of Cacimbo, the Bird of Kasimbu soars unseen, capturing Luanda’s heartbeat: the rhythm of daily life, the struggles and joys, the traditions and changes. The compact and agile DJI FPV Avata 2 brings us closer to the action, navigating through narrow streets, over rooftops, and along the city’s water channels, providing a perspective that’s both raw and cinematic.
This film is a tribute to Angola’s untold beauty — not just in its landscapes, but in the stories of its people. It’s about seeing beyond the surface and capturing the essence of a place that’s often overlooked.
