Sunshine Skyway Bridge

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Check out this drone video of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge near Tampa, Florida, compliments of AirVuz contributor Bumble Bee Productions. The cable-stayed bridge spans the lower part of the bay (an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico), connecting St. Petersburg to Terra Ceia. Completed in 1987, it has a total length of just over four miles (a little under seven km), with a longest single span of about 1.1k ft. or 366 mm. The bridge replaced an earlier structure which catastrophically collapsed when struck by a cargo ship in 1980.

When in Tampa/St. Petersburg area, you must visit the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Form the view of the waterway, the amazing sunsets, to merchants ships, recreational boaters, cruise liners and the an incredible architectural feat of a bridge. You can park along the bridge where the old bridge used to be. They saved portions of it as a fishing pier (pier rats) where I met Mahmoud and his mother fishing. They are Jordanian and super nice folks. I had to include them in my video. to me, this is one of my favorite clips to date....
