AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : AirVuz contributor and pilot Mark's Mavic 2 brings us this excellent drone video from a pilgrimage site in Ireland. St Patrick's Purgatory is located on Station Island in Lough Derg in County Donegal. Mentioned as early as the 12th century, it's not clear if the original site was on Station Island or on the shoreline of the lake. The modern form of the pilgrimage involves a two-night stay - the first in the basilica and then sleep in the dormitory; on the third day they are ferried back to the mainland.

Filmed with my Dji Mavic 2 Pro in 4K. St Patrick's Purgatory is an ancient pilgrimage site on Station Island in Lough Derg, County Donegal, Ireland. According to legend, the site dates from the fifth century, when Christ showed Saint Patrick a cave, sometimes referred to as a pit or a well, on Station Island that was an entrance to Purgatory.[1] Its importance in medieval times is clear from the fact that it is mentioned in texts from as early as 1185 and shown on maps from all over Europe as early as the fifteenth century. It is the only Irish site designated on Martin Behaim's world map of 1492.[2]. Hope you enjoy the video.
