Located adjacent to Jackson Square in the French Quarter, the church is the oldest US cathedral in continuous use. Standing on the site of two earlier churches, the cathedral was completed in 1794, when the city and the territory of Louisiana were still part of the French Empire. Modified extensively in the mid-19th century, St. Louis Cathedral received Pope Paul VI in 1964 and Pope John Paul II in 1987.

I was up early the other day and was hoping for a sunrise opportunity around the city of New Orleans so I decided near the St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square. Cloudy but the sun kept breaking out from time to time and had an opportunity to film the sun as well.
