Also called Soleure, it's the capital of its namesake canton in the northwestern part of the country. It's situated on the banks of the Aare River, at the foot of the Jura Mountains. Originally a Roman settlement, the town came into its own in the Early Modern period, and is known for its Baroque style architecture. The video features excellent footage of the Old Town and the magnificent Solothurn (St. Ursus) Cathedral.
