Music videos are a major part of any recording artist’s success. People enjoy seeing their favorite singer preform, since many will never make it to a concert themselves. Drones are being used in music videos now like never before. Before drones were readily available, or available at all, artists would hire helicopter pilots to shoot the few aerial shots they needed in their video. It could cost upwards of $10,000 just for a few seconds worth of footage. Now videos like this one by OKP Films can be filmed almost entirely with drones, getting those dynamic aerial shots for a very small budget. So many musicians are turning to drones, including many of this year’s’ GRAMMY nominees. Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” video used drones, while Drake is using drones as back up dancers in his “Aubrey and the Three Amigos” tour. Many still remember Lady Gaga’s Halftime Show at Super Bowl LI where she used Intel’s Shooting Star drones throughout the performance. Watch the full music video “‘White Jeans’ ft. Chris Hawkey,” by OKP Films and more of their work HERE. See other examples of drones in music videos in our Drone Music Videos Collection.
