Aerial visuals of Shivagange Hill. It is a lone hill of around 450 metres height and a Hindu pilgrimage center located near Dobbaspet, Karnataka, India. It is 25 km from Tumakuru and 54 km from Bengaluru. The hill is shaped like a Shivalinga (a form of Hindu god Shiva usually used for worshipping) and a spring called "Ganga" flows nearby, thereby giving the place its name. It has various small temples enroute the 6 km trek from the base till the top. During the reign of Hoysala kings, queen Shanthala, wife of king Vishnuvardhana, committed suicide from this hill. The hill was fortified during the 16th century by Shivappa Nayaka. The founder of Bengaluru, Magadi Kempegowda, also made improvements to the fortifications and kept a portion of his treasure within it.
