Shieldaig Island boasts a truly superb location off the village of Shieldaig on Loch Torridon. Covered with rocky outcrops, seaweed, scrub and Caledonian Pine trees, the scenic Shieldaig Island is managed by the National Trust for Scotland. It is believed the trees were planted to provide poles to dry the nets of the local fishermen and catches are still landed there today. The village is a scattering of largely white-washed cottages and other buildings along the shore of the loch. The island comes complete with a small collection of tourist services including a shop and a hotel with outstanding dining
