Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck - Iceland

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

One of the most recognized sights of Iceland is an abandoned crashed airplane wreck.  It's a US Navy DC-3 which ran out of fuel and crashed on Sólheimasandur, a black sand beach on the island's southern coast.  While the plane's crew survived the ordeal, the wreckage was left in place.  It's not the easiest place to reach (or even find) - there are no nearby roads, and even the ruggedest 4WD vehicles can get stuck in the sand.   The best way to see is via a drone video, such as this one by flyingbydaniel.
