Road trip to highland castle Shatili

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Check out this stunning drone video of a village in the northern extremity of Georgia in the Caucasus Mountains. Shatili is situated in the Khevsureti province near the northern border with the Russian republic of Chechnya. The village is comprised of mostly fortified dwellings which date to the medieval period and into the early modern periods. The fortified nature of the village reflects its historical strategic importance as an outpost; most of the villagers were resettled to lower altitudes during the 1950's.
