Burning on-site brush and debris piles is an effective and efficient method to rapidly break down dead plant material. One hundred and twenty debris piles were safely burned over a four-day period.

Bear Yuba Land Trust started pile burning along Yuba Rim Trail on the Rice's Crossing North Preserve near Bullards Bar Reservoir. With the help of Yuba Water Agency, Torchbearr, Bella Forestry, and our wonderful volunteers, 120 vegetation piles were burned along the trail.

Efforts like these build a healthy and resilient forest. "Good fire" pile burning, mitigates large piles of brush and debris that would otherwise be hazards during wildfire season. This was all completed with permits and a certified burn crew.
