Top contributor NAVA returns to AirVuz after a multi-year hiatus with this excellent drone video of Peru's Rainbow Mountain. Variously known as Vinicunca and the Mountain of Seven Colors, it's located in the Cusco region in the south-central part of the country. Getting close to the mountain by car involves about a three hour drive from Cusco to the trailhead, followed by a roughly six hour strenuous hike to the lookout point. The mountain has a summit elevation of about 16.5k ft. above sea level (around 5k m).

Rainbow Mountain, known for its colorful scenery, is located in the Andes Mountains at an altitude of over 5.000 meters. The air is thin and one must take precautions against altitude sickness, but what attracts visitors more than the harshness of the landscape are the colorful stripes. They are made up of a combination of different geological components such as minerals, iron oxide, and sulfur. In fact, the Rainbow Mountains have only recently become known, around 2015. Please enjoy this mysterious geological formation in the video as well.
