Pettelaarse Schans is a star-shaped fort (sometimes called a bastion fort) which is situated just south of 's-Hertogenbosch, one of the main cities of the Noord-Brabant region of the country. Constructed in 1623, the fort was successfully besieged by Dutch forces in 1629, during the latter part of the 80 Years' War in which the Dutch won their independence from Imperial Spain.

What was a great morning that we had in Pettelaarse Schans. I was a windy day but we tried our best to be able to fly and had amazing footages. FYI, The Pettelaarse Schans or Fort Saint Michèl was a fort in south of the city of 's-Hertogenbosch. The fort was built in 1623, after Maurits van Oranje tried to capture the city in 1603 and 1622. With each attack the Bosschenaren flooded the swamp around the city. With both attacks, Maurits occupied an altitude south of the city. The people of Bosschen recognized the importance of this height. After Maurits was defeated, the Bosschenaren built the Pettelaarse Schans at this height in 1623. Six years later, during the Siege of 's-Hertogenbosch by Frederik Hendrik of Orange-Nassau , there was a fight, but the soldiers of' s-Hertogenbosch did not prevent Frederik Hendrik from eventually taking over the city. The fort was finally demolished in 1672 at the start of the Dutch War, to prevent the armies of France from taking possession of the fort.
