Lake Passante (Lago Passante) is located in La Sila, a mountain plateau which covers parts of three provinces in Calabria, the region at the "toe" of peninsular Italy. The lake is an artificial reservoir for a hydroelectric project which was built in the area in the 1960's. The lake sits at an altitude of about 3.3k ft. above sea level or around 1k m.
