Oradour sur Glane - France- Martyr Village 4k

Contributor FreD ...///... created this haunting aerial video of Oradour-sur-Glane, a small French village in central France that was the scene of one of the worst World War II atrocities in Western Europe.  In June, 1944, troops of the Waffen-SS came through the town to reinforce the German positions in Normandy following the Allied D-Day landing.  For reasons still not entirely clear, they massacred 642 residents of the town, mostly women and children.  While the village was rebuilt nearby, the original site was preserved in memorial.
