Nubble Lighthouse, York Maine

Cape Neddick Light is one of the most famous lighthouses on the East Coast of the United States.  Also known as Nubble Light, it sits on a prominent peninsula on the southern coast of Maine, just north of the opening to the harbor of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  Constructed in 1879 and automated since 1987, its significance is such that a picture of the lighthouse was included in the payload of the Voyager spacecraft launched into outer space in 1977, along with images of the Great Wall and the Taj Mahal.
