Neist Point, Skye

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : AirVuz contributor Albion Drones brings us this excellent drone video of a well-known landmarks in the Scottish Highlands: the lighthouse of Neist Point, on the Isle of Skye. Built in 1909, the lighthouse is located at the tip of a peninsula on the western side of the island, which is the largest of the Inner Hebrides. The lighthouse is important to protecting shipping traffic in the dangerous waters between the Inner and Outer Hebrides. Standing 62 ft. tall (around 20 m), it's been automated since 1990.

Neist Point, Skye - One of the most beautiful and remote tourist hotspots on the Isle of Skye, the wonderfully scenic and (sometimes) serene Neist Point, the most westerly point of the Isle!

Stunning panoramic views, dramatic cliffs, and a picturesque lighthouse towering above the strip of Atlantic known as the Minch - what is not to love! This was captured on the one great weather day we had during our June 2024 trip to Skye, most of the rest of the week was too wet and windy to fly the drone, but it is Skye, so you pays your money and takes your chances...

Sunsets from this location are legendary, but as it was getting busier and the midges were coming out to play we decided not to wait until sunset - we had Waternish Peninsula lined up for that video - so an early evening flight was enough for us to capture the spirit of the place...
