Mountain Surfing | Portage Valley, Alaska
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
See just how stunning the northwestern-most American state is in this FPV video of the Alaska wilderness by pilot Alaskatraz.FPV. He’s taking us to Portage Valley which lies southeast of Anchorage at the head of Turnagain Arm. Known as one of the most stunning and welcoming destinations in the region when the weather is cooperating (like in this video), it can be quite dangerous with incredibly high winds and beating rain during storms. Read more about the area in Alaskatraz.FPV’s description.

The Portage Valley is about 45 minutes south of Anchorage. It is a place of scenic beauty year-round. There you can find Portage Glacier that feeds into Portage Lake, which is the headwaters for Portage Creek. You can often see icebergs floating in the lake in the summer. In the winter the lake freezes and becomes a trail for hikers, bikers, and skiers to explore. This video was taken very near the Portage Lake and Begich Boggs Visitor Center. There are peaks that reach 3,000-4,000 feet on either side of the valley, which makes it easy to find something to explore. Music - Artist: Bassix feat.
