In the past episodes of drone camp, the six teams have been learning about what goes in to building their own drones. Part of the build involves binding and programming. Last episode, that was completed and now it's time to test the motors and add props. Testing the motors went quite smoothly. Some reactions to the motors were: "I was scared because they were going really fast." - Kedar "When I just heard brrrrrrrr, you're not expecting that." - Travis "I didn't think it was going to be that loud or that quick when I plugged the battery in." - Andrew W A quick prop lesson from Mike Bros, KING TeC Member and Drone Camp Coordinator, and the props are on. Before the kids take their first flight, they take a few turns in the VelociDrone, an FPV drone racing simulator. Strategies are made and advice is given. "The strategy really is move it side to side." - Connor "Just taking it slow and keeping it under control." - Matthew G "Moving it up and down to make it level." - Cody "I was starting slow so I could finish slow." - Jamison "So I decided to pre-turn before I actually had to go forward to the next hoop." - Will "Push up on the right stick as little as possible." - Travis Team One: Cody, Sam, Jamison and Evan Team Two: Nick, Alec, Mitchell and Cole P Team Three: Audrey, Matthew D, Kedar and Matthew G Team Team: Chandler, Connor, Will and Andrew W Team Five: Joey, Ben and Cole B Team Six: Andrew R, Travis and James More episodes of Drone Camp to come! Here, on AirVuz.com Learn more about KING TeC VIDEO TRANSCRIPT Speaker 1: In the past episodes of Drone Camp, the six teams have been learning about what goes into building their own drone. [00:00:30] Part of the build involves binding and programming. Last episode that was completed, and now it's time to test the motors and add props. Speaker 2: [crosstalk 00:00:48] This one's not working. Yeah these two aren't working. Speaker 3: When I [00:01:00] first did it, it jump scared me. Speaker 4: It's stuck on that- Speaker 2: No it's working. Yeah it's working. There we go and it just got stuck. Speaker 5: Well, actually I was scared because they were going really fast. Speaker 6: It works fine. Speaker 3: When I just heard [inaudible 00:01:25]. Not expecting it. Speaker 7: It was scary. When you [00:01:30] start it up it immediately reacts. Speaker 8: When it hits you, it's scary. Speaker 9: No it's going, it's gonna go. Mine goes really fast. Speaker 7: No, I didn't think it was going to be that loud or that quick when I plugged the battery in and then I thought it would be like five seconds, then it would turn on. But no, it was just immediate, so. Speaker 10: We have our front and we have our back. And we have counterclockwise motors here and clockwise motors here. So, now we need to figure out what prop goes in what. So don't force it on. And when putting [00:02:00] it on, make sure to hold the back canister so you don't push that out and then you have electricity. The wires are going there. They both touch this rod and they apply a current through it, but then the magnet and the copper wire interact to make it spin. Speaker 1: Before the kids take their first flight, [00:02:30] they take a few turns on the VelociDrone, and FPV drone racing simulator. Speaker 11: Oh you missed it bro, good job. Speaker 6: Does that count? Speaker 11: It counts. Speaker 12: The strategy really is move it side to side, [00:03:00] like that, so that you don't need to maneuver it and then maneuver it again. So, you keep looking straight the entire time. You go to the first one, then you go to where the second one is, and you move over more and you go through the third one, which is how I did it. Speaker 11: Good, good job. Oh, you made it. Speaker 4: Just [00:03:30] taking it slower. The first time I went to fast and just messed up, so just taking it slow and just keeping I under control. Speaker 13: I kept on moving it up and down to make it level and then it got through and then right before the turn, I decided to go sideways and line up where the hoop is and i just went straight from there and made it through. Speaker 11: You did it. Speaker 14: [00:04:00] The third time, I was also going slow, so I didn't run into anything cause last time I've tried, I couldn't get it to stop without messing it up, so I was starting slow so that I could finish slow. Took me long enough. Speaker 16: I guess that counted then? I just figured out that just momentum wise, if you even turn right a bit, you would still keep going the direction that you first where moving forward on, so [00:04:30] I say three turns before I actually had to move forward to the next hoop, and just go slow. Did it. Speaker 17: My strategy was mainly to just push up on the right stick as little as possible and try to stay up high early on and then lower later on. Speaker 11: Is that is, did you do it? Speaker 17: [00:05:00] First try. Speaker 1: Next time on drone camp, the moment everyone has been waiting for, the first flight.
