AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
The Eastern Orthodox Mar Saba Monastery is the largest in Israel's Judaean Desert, which lies to the south and west of the capital city Jerusalam. Mar Saba is named after Saint Sabas, the monk who established the monastery in the 5th century. It was built along the cliffs of the Kidron Creek protecting it from harm. The monastery is currently home to about 20 monks. Seen here in this drone video by content creator and pilot Rea_Burla, Mar Saba is located roughly halfway between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

Mar Saba Monastery. The largest Monastery in the Judean desert. The complex is built on the southern cliffs of the Kidron creek, and is protected inside a walled area with dozens of structures. It was established by Saint Sabas, and named after him. The monastery started as a place of seclusion of few monks in the caves, led by Sabas. Over the years it was built, expanded, and fortified. During the peak times it housed about 500 monks.
